So pretty unexpected I ended up with a brand new AP Safari the other day. Now its 42mm, it's not modded and it's driving me nuts (that it's not modded). @aflop and @psapas know exactly what I mean

Now I am sort of obsessed with perfection and I can't keep looking at the 42mm AP if the dw isn't right, the tachy isn't shaved etc.. Needless to say, either I sell it or it gets modded.

What I am really looking for is a any type of Vintage AP which matches my Ducati which you can see here: https://forum.replica-watch.info/vb...o-Bikes-here-(Ducati-Aprilia-Triumph-Harley-)

So I thought about the Montauk Highway with a nice leather strap (like on the Safari) but the dial colors are all wrong compared to the gen.

The only other model I can think of is the 2014 Navy blue model which looks like this:

The strap would have to be changed and I would have to get it modded entirely as well. Any 44mm on the other hand.. well I can live with the flaws for a few weeks at most but there isn't anything matching besides the blue theme 44mm.

Anyone got an idea? I was even considering Panerai but Rolex and Panerai are like Swatches and G-shocks where I live, so I don't really want to go down that route anymore. Even tho I have considered it.

The Montauk Highway seems to match the bike perfectly even tho the dial colors are are totally wrong compared to the gen as far as I know, so that would bug me all the time. I just need perfection on my wrist. I know I can buy a gen, been there, done that and a few GEN AP's where enough to realise I can get the same stuff modded for a fraction of the price. The next gen is a new Vanguard Chrono as there are no decent reps, so AP gen is out of the question.

Lets hope you guys got some ideas, as I am bashing my head against the wall right now ;)

Any input is welcome :)

Your picture seems to be of the Noob Montauk, which slaughterer reckons is closer to the colours of the gen than the JF. But not easy to find. But neither watch matches the old John Wyer Gulf colours.

I have always been a twin kinda guy. I don't like the feel of an inline four. Could settle with a Triumph triple, but for me, twin have always been what God intended for a man to be satisfied by.....

Having had a few Dukes myself including a Monster, and a number of other twins (the most fun was my Aprilia RSVmilleR), the one thing I would say is, I ride twins for the character. Man they shake, shit and rattle worse than Ozzy Osbourne sat on a washing machine in it's spin cycle.

And all that vibration is not too kind to any mechanical watch, especially not a temperamental A7750. If you were frankened up with an LWO, I'm sure that would be much better, but personally, I would not mix a rep with riding, especially not a twin.

Haha spoken like a true rider! :punk:

That what makes those bikes so special, especially the cafe racers. Stripped down to almost nothing, loud as faaark and the most unpractical bikes to have :D

I guess i'll have to look into a franken project or use one of my gens. On the other hand $500 for a new AP rep every other month could be written off as 'maintenance costs' lol.
