Here are my latest build, 1680.

Inspiration came from this genuine watch :

CASE:
Its rafflesdials case with engravings between the lugs and caseback like genuine watch. Engravings letter type between the lugs are not correct because we could not find exact letter type. There was no reshaping done on both cases, just plug and play kind of thing.

Engraving between the lugs:

DIAL:
Watch has rafflesdials dial and for now its good for my eye until I find some better one.

HANDS:
1680: I bought these orange hands on ebay and I wanted my watch look like genuine from the picture above.

MOVEMENT:
Watch has genuine ETA2824-2 movement. Movement was stripped, cleaned and put back together. They keep time pretty good.

CASEBACKS:
Caseback is engraved with correct engravings.

BRACELETS:
Black NATO strap.

Thanks for scrolling and looking at this post..

Cheers.

no worries. your build is nice. I was just curious.
on some older Rolex subs, the date wheel looks like this

see how on 6 and 9, the number stays "open"

here is some story

Ooh gotcha!! Sorry again..

Honestly I have no idea. I used date wheel from gen ETA 2824-2 movement..

When the date comes to numbers 6 or 9 I will let you know.. :)

Thanks again for clarification. :)

all good. It's just that I also have a 1680 build in my future plans. I was wondering if you had put a date wheel overlay as it is a daunting exercise 😁

The two movements don't have the same stem height thought
Thank you for information. I did not know about stem height issue. I almost went to get 2836 so you saved me $$$. Thanks.

Do you, by any chance, know where to source correct DW (open 6 and 9) for 2824 movement?

sorry. I only know Raffles sells 2836, no clue on 2824 dwo

what's your case source?
Case is from Raffles.

I just checked the case from Raffles and a case only supports 2824 or NH35 movement.

Well, I will just keep as is for now.

This looks to me like the 1680 with the date wheel in the eta position- cyclops looks to be positioned to the right.
I don't know what raffles has for 1680s, but a datewheel in the eta position is too far right for a gen Rolex.
That said, maybe raffles has a Rolex DWO for eta.
Karbon's datewheel looks like a gen Rolex 1575 datewheel.

This MBW 1680 has the correct DWO position for a 1680 sub- it's slightly inside the eta position but you can't really tell in this pic. The movement is a 2846-2 with the correct DWO. The 2846 and the 2836 are very similar.
But what the heck, Rolex even built Tudor watches with eta movements and the datewheel was in eta position.
This Tudor 79090 has an eta and the date is in the eta position

So, you think 2846 would work and it would not have any stem height issues?

Thank you again for your help.

the 2836 and the 2846 are similar. The 2824 has a different stem position- higher I believe- so you can't swap out in this situation.
the 2846 is also scarce and expensive- around $200. There are some low beat 2836 clones, but once again, with a 2824, you're SOL.
At this point you can do a few things to improve the looks-straighten up the insides of the crown guards and install a better pearl.
Straightening up the cgs is a little tricky w/o removing the tube and crown, or should I say slow and tedious.
The pearl is easier-order an all acrylic pearl from Athaya Vintage or Ofrei.com, pop the old pearl with the small metal surround out and glue in the new pearl.
