Just took a dremel to my 1665. How do the crown guards look?
What seemed bit did you use to shave them down? Good job

Here's the setup, I didn't use this tip much I took the pic when doing test runs. I had a couple old cases i practiced on first
That bit in the previous post did the most work.
Id just get eye level with it and lightly touch the spots I wanted. Then sand it and polish
The red dremel paste isnt great but the green dialux polish did fantastic. Was a lot of fun

Great job. 1665 is my favourite Rolex reference. What’s the watch spec....looks fantastic.

1665 is also my favorite, it's all gen except the midcase, case back tube and crown
case is from phong, i had ordered a gen bezel assembly but it wouldn't fit on phongs retaining ring. so i had to get a gen retaining ring too. lol.
pricey build but i love it.
the crown guards were driving me mad, but i think it looks alright now

Phone cases are over rated. Nothing at that price point should require case mods and not accept gen parts.
The gen parts will appreciate value over time.
I had a couple of builds over the years but ended up buying a gen. yours is good as gen. enjoy

here's a better picture & thanks. of course the 4th is the only date on my date disc with a blemish on it.
agreed, wayy to expensive. i may get a mq caseback as i prefer his. but i will say at least this phong came waterproof to 6 atm. all of my mq 1665 cases failed miserably at water resistance.
and at least with the phong i could customize my birthdate as the serial #.
i found a couple cases over the months on ebay, verryy expensive.
Beautiful build. Although mech500 is right about it being a lot to pay for a case that still needs work (and its incompatibility with gen parts is a right kick in the nuts), at least it meant you got to add your own finishing touches to it! Bravo!
^exactly. It’s just annoying having to mod an expensive case but I totally agree that on balance, phong is the best option...don’t get me started on MQ cases! The quality is so inconsistent and he constantly tries to send out the “shit one”....I went through 4 casebacks pics before he showed me the top tier one.
It also helps if you can rework cases yourself. That way you can perfect them to your hearts content. Anyways, great work!!
