I had heard a lot of good things about the V6 release and I was thinking about selling my 127. Figured, I could always grab a v6 later on, if I wanted to, and build another. After looking closely at some bridge shots, I doubt I'll be selling my Noob anymore.

I have not held a v6 or gen yet, but I have heard that the v6 engravings are deeper, although I cant tell if that actually makes them more gen-like. What does seem apparent though, is the lettering looks off.

This is really a negative point for KW-V6Fac version
Thanks for the info

Nice to have confirmation and know that I'm not crazy and seeing things. When I actually paid closer attention, I was shocked at how bad it was. I've only been hearing great things about the v6 release, so it was weird to find such an obvious and unspoken about flaw.

I will never sell my Noob/Marlin Fiddy..., never.
I definitely would advise against selling. Especially a noob/marlin build. Although, in light of this new discovery, I bet the noobs will fetch a pretty penny... IMO, still the best 127 out there.

Here's a better bridge comparison. These are all now stock samples. IMO, noob is still the closest to gen. KW has deeper engraving but the lettering itself is just way off. ZF looks to have the most shallow engraving of all but the font itself is more accurate then KW, although it's spacing is quite off. If you can get your hands on a noob, do so. If not, it'll be up to what bothers you less.

From those 4 pics alone I would personally say ZF is closest, though the sunburst seems a tiny bit too prominent.

Imho I think we should keep in mind that from the naked eye these magnified details are not noticeable. What is noticeable is the level of sunburst brushing and crystal distortion. Looking at all of these and continued search on the internet I still believe KW is the best option out with all flaws noted. I personally changed my CG to a ZF because of the better engraving. Just my 2 cents.

I agree. While I'd like the rep to be perfect all around, that will never happen and the face of the watch is far more important to me than the back of it. For that reason, KW wins for me, too.

I've been having this debate for a few weeks now. What is better noob or v6?

to start Strodda is showing a modded noob with tons of Swiss parts. He did a great job with it and it rivals most anything out here. So it's not really apples to apples. Overall the v6f is better in almost every other aspect. The case is sharper and Better finished, the crystal distortion and clarity is near perfect, the dial is better with nice glossy fonts not overly thick like the noob, the hands are near gen with the correct gold color not brassy and tarnished looking with slightly rolled edges, the crown guard is near perfect with the correct lever tip shape. About the only thing better is the case back on the noob. The v6f has the wrong sized engravings and fonts. The v6 movement is beautiful under lights. The sunburst effect on the plates is amazing with polished edges of the bridges and nice jewel divots. The noob is also a great work of art. And with what Strodda can do it makes it even better. Now a Strodda modded v6? That would be something!

Here are a few v6f 127s to compare

I'm glad you guys are around to hawk-eye the details, but we are talking about things that can't be seen without the aid of a loupe. I'm enjoying the hell out of my ZF despite the imperfections. (That said, chef, I may be contacting you for some mods soon... Lol).
