Well, given everything going on with the other TT thread figured I'd just throw my 'positive experience' out there. After doing lots of research on the forum I decided to go with Andrew @ TT for my first out-of-the-box rep. He’s been doing business for close to 20 years, and seems to have a great reputation here (and elsewhere).
Initially I had (plenty) of questions for him – as is to be expected for a first time via TD/rep purchase. Andrew was insanely prompt with responses…I swear these guys seem to work 24/7. I actually ended up ‘switching’ my purchase from one that had the 9015 movement to one with the 3120 (after reading some reviews about the 9015 being a bit loud, I decided to throw my hat in the ring on the 3120). He was more than accommodating with the change.
Watch is an AP 15400 APSF V3 with blue dial (3120 movement as mentioned).
After sealing the deal and making payment, the timeline went like this:
-4/15: payment made in full
-4/21: QC pics#1 received
-4/22: QC pics#2 received (I asked for a little closer up photo of the dial)
-4/22: QC pics approved
-4/25: watch shipped
-5/6: watch delivered
Now, I should back up….after initial contact & payment around 4/15 the “Raids” kicked off around 4/19. I full expected this to cause unforeseen delays both in QC as well as potentially shipping. As it was, I was ‘anticipating’ that even the basic timeline could possibly take month(s) to complete just given others experiences and input. To my utter surprise, watch was in-hand 3-weeks to the day from payment to delivery!
UNBOXING:
WRIST SHOT:
Now, admittedly….I was *very* attentive to checking the watch over as soon as it was out of the box (and before removing any protective plastics/etc). I checked the crown, wound it and checked for hand movement/time setting, checked the date functionality/etc. All seemed spot-on, and the watch itself is absolutely beautiful – I’m amazed at the craftsmanship to be honest, and while I read a few threads about what it may ‘need’ to have done to it to make it more gen-like, I’ll be honest I can say I feel that this watch literally needs nothing and it good to go as-is.
I’ll also say that Andrew was crazy patient with me throughout the process – I was full of questions, and he was outstanding in his responses, his details, and his turnaround time both on answers as well as QC/shipping/etc. As I told him, I’ll be front-loaded with questions for the first go-around but fully expect – and will – be ordering from him again, and anticipate the process to go even smoother next time (well, smoother for him since I won’t have a million questions lol).
Again, I was anticipating potentially months for the process to unfold, if not at least a month. And this is before ‘things can happen’ and go sideways/etc. However, I was at ease during the process since dealing with Andrew and his reputation I knew that if anything went awry that he’d step up and make it right. To be honest, I realize that going with a TD they really absorb all of the risk – the potential for shipping issues, mechanical hiccups, international shipping back-and-forth/etc….rather than ‘rolling the dice’ with an unknown, I was definitely glad I went with TT.
