V6F oversized CP problem explained... and fixed!

New V6F reps are coming with these goofball CP's:


So curiosity got the better of me... I was able to pick up a normal Rad hand set from Oncyte (big thanks!) and today I pulled it apart thinking I'd have to swap in H3 parts (which I have at the ready).

No need! The watch has H3 already installed, the CP just needs a bit of polish.

The minute hand has a built in cap, so it's basically going in the trash. The hour hand could be used for something, so it goes in the parts box.

So there you have it. A simple polish and hand swap and no more oversized CP on new V6F reps

So the only real tell now is the O serial # prefix. I can live with that...

nice work. I had to do the same thing after I purchased the KW 127 and then the first batch of PAM024 had an oddball CP cap. I'm really bummed about KW quality compared to noob and h factory.

The cap is totally unnecessary. Ironically, it is meant to be cosmetic and allow the factory to skip the step of flattening and polishing the canon pinion. So instead of taking literally 20 seconds to polish each canon pinion, they designed a whole new hand with a cosmetic cap built into it. The hand will not fit without the cap, if I remember correctly. So a new set of hands is required and the cap is thrown away with the hand.

Yes it is a PAM 643

But I think @mt666tm has not specified the model because he means that ALL new KW Radiomirs (with big "cup" CP) can be improved with this interesting Modd

Very simple, you cover the dial with small piece of paper with hole punched to let CP poke out (proper way is to remove dial, but i was lazy).. then using a Dremel tool with felt jewelery polishing wheel and some metal polish of your choice. I used Mothers mag and aluminum polish, as that is what i use on my motorbikes and coincidentally it does a great job on watches too

I actually bought the felt polishing wheels at a shop that sells rocks and finishing tools for Lapidary. I could not find them at any hardware store.

If your CP is not flat and bad texture you can lightly file it with an Emory board / very fine nail file / fine grit paper, etc. to make the surface nice and flat, Then polish.
