V6 pams with DLC Cases

I see often, it posted that the V6 cases are "NOT" DLC but rather the more simple process PVD. But no one that I have read, ever says just how they know this.

This is complicated by the fact, that most dealers list the V6 models as DLC. Does anyone here have any idea the truth of the matter?

Been trying to learn the truth of this one for quite a while now. Anyone???,

PVD : Physical Vapor Deposition is a process which vaporizes different metals and binds it on the case/parts in "layers".
DLC : Diamond Like Carbon is a different way to use the PVD process. instead of different metals sprayed on the case/parts, DLC process use a form of carbon. Once blasted on the surface, it's cooled down extremly fast like "synthetic diamonds" are made.

Usually, DLC is more resistant than PVD and is the highest quality of PVD black coating. When a watch (rep like V6F) is listed as PVD, then it's to "mask" a cheaper type of PVD process and not DLC.
Specialized compagnies offer a lot of different tints, texture.

If I'm right, that's why "PVD" rep watches are more black and mat than DLC ones...

Thank you Sir for your reply. However, this is not what was ask.

I am very aware of the dirrerences, as I have dealt with these processes for years, and a new one, which is not avaliable to the public.

What I said was, most TD's list the V6 watches as "DLC, yet a few posters have said that they are not, and only pvd. Why are they saying this? NO Gives info as just how they have come to this conclusion.

Further, No, this in NOT the reason for the the difference in color. You can get many color shades with the DLC and Non DLC PVD. The texture comes from the prep done to the surface of the case, prior t the treatment. For instance, a high polish will give a almost Black Chrome appearance. Fine Glass Bead, will give a soft matt finish. Corse bead blast will give a deep, dark appearance, and a process called vapor honing will give a soft light grey appearance.
There are other techniques as well.

So still, need an answer. Are KW V6 cases PVD or Full DLC???

Anyone???

Thank You Sir for your reply!:)

Current models are almost all DLC.

Older and cheaper models tend to be PVD coated. Thoses pieces show significant signs of wear after some time

Interesting and useful info! Might order a DLC PAM just to use the case-set for a DLC 390 Noob build.

I'm just curious which factory's DLC case has the most colour accurate since V6's have a brownish? Or whether H or Noob is better?

From what I understand, the brownish is on the 386, 441, 438, and a couple of others. Not so on the Luminor cases at all. Geesh, I hope I understand correctly. Ordering a 360 1st of month. May very well put a 111 dial in it. :)

The brown cases are the reps with titanium cases DLCed to look like the composite case of the original like the PAM386, PAM504 and PAM505. The PAM441 (not 442) and the PAM438 are made of ceramic and are not brown at all in color.

THe V6F/KW DLC for the 360 is very matte, it is a totally flat grey DLC. some say that this is more colour accurate. But after studying photos of gens and talking to Ryllz (he friend has the gen) the gen 360 is more of a satin finish with a kind of sheen which shimmers under the different lighting. He says the closest is using noob case which has been polished with cape cod. But obviously this is only if you want an accurate 360. If you are thinking of fitting a dial and building a custom fantasy model then get what you like. That being said the matte DLC finish ont he V6F/KW is very nice and has this stealth feel about it.

Thanks and yes, I kinda was thinking of picking up the KW V6 360 and possibly putting my Noob 111 movement and dial in it. ;-)

Since the gen is ceramic wouldn't it be better to get the ceramic case?

true true..but I have been on a Pam shopping spree, just not sure if I should get the full ceramic or the DLC as the price difference is $100

In this case it would be better a custom DLC of your Noob case

I thought about that, but the case is older Noob purchased in 2011. Much better cases out there now.;-)
