Posted earlier over on little sister. :D

It has taken me quite a while to get to the Pam party but at least I made it here. I have finally come to appreciated these watches, they are quite spectacular and make for awesome reps.

I've been reading a lot of Panerai info at TZ and RWI along with browsing Davidsen's section at , trying to learn there is so much to know about all the models it will take me awhile but from what I have gathered the: 111E,111F,and 111G all have sausage dials and the 111H,111I, and 111J have sandwich..and the brushed CG's starts from G series for 111. (let me know if that's wrong)

So from that info assuming accurate, the dial on my watch is a sausage, although it is a custom dial from Flava Flav, the CG is polished which is accurate for the model and the canon pin has been corrected.

Anyway this morning the watch stopped working ??? Well the watch apparantly was serviced, but me being very anal and picky about these things I had to take the back off and I found the plastic movement retainer was blocking the balance from moving. It is very telling when you inspect a watch with a loupe on, anyway an easy fix on the retainer and I cleaned around the inside with rodico to my satisfaction, so now it is officially mine. I know there are flaws but please feel free to enlighten me on anything that is not right, I love the watch but still want to learn. :)

retainer loose in movement, looks like wrong size too.

HI Cybee,

Beautiful watch & welcome to the rep Pam club ;)

What you mentioned about the various 111 models over the years are all correct. F series should be polished CG with painted dial, with non-swanneck manual wind (I call it the two-barrel 6497 movement).

CG lever pin looks flat and nice, must be something FF offers now. One thing though - the dial looks sandwich to me with L SWISS MADE L below the 6. Other than this, all looks good. Where did you source the movement BTW?

Thanks Joe...I purchased the watch from a member here and the movement came with it. The dial was painted by Flava Flav and Vac did the lumeing...So there aren't any sausage 111's with the L Swiss Made L under the six??

I am happy and really like the watch, these Pam's are beauties. :D

I was curious about the movement because it's a stock non-altered 6497 movement and I need a couple for my pams.

While it's true that there is no L SWISS MADE L dial with sausage 111 dial, I thought/assumed your dial was sandwich dial because the lume job looked too perfect for sausage dial lume work. Flava Flav and Vaccum certainly did an awesome on it. I have two watches with Vaccum now, I have higher expectation from him now haha ;)

Cybee, what ever your intentions are to do with that watch in the future are - don't sell the case !
I know that case very well, it comes with Sapphire xtal with best ever A/R I've seen...and believe me I've seen a few :)
This is also a case with almost 1:1 dimensions, and comes with elongated lugs, again, just like gens.

You'll recognize it by flat circular portion on the underside of the case, just around the caseback. This area is normaly round on both gens and reps.
It also isn't built for mov't clamps (smal metal plates that hold the mov't to the case in two points, where they insert inside two grooves). Instead it uses a very rigid 'plastic' retainer ring that is inserted between the case and the movement, and secured by two screws (I could see on your pic that both screws missed the ring, somehow). Also, the retainer ring is supposed to come with approx 1cm gap, and that gap should be aligned above balance bridge on top of the balance wheel area in a way to leave balance wheel to spin freely. Again, that doesn't seem to be the case here, but it's really an easy fix. :)

Hey wear it well, the dial numerals and indices fill-in job FFlav has done on this dial is just superb !

cheers,
babola

Thanks babola now I love the watch even more. :D I was not aware of the elongated lugs, and really nice to know I have a good case, definitely one to keep. Regarding the retainer I think I need to get a stiffer one, the one that came with the watch seem too thin and flimsy. I will look for the correct retainer.

Thanks for the nice words and expert advise and especially now I'm thinking I got a great deal.

That movement is non-decorated. Looks like someone swapped out the original decorated rep movement with a standard 6497.

yeah I really don't know the full history with regards to the movement since I did buy it used...but still the movement is the real deal and that's OK with me. :D

Actually that was the original movement with foil decoration glued on the bridges, it was starting to come off, so I just had Vac remove them when he serviced the movement. Glad you're enjoying it Cybee, seeing those pics makes me second guess myself for letting it go, thankfully there's a certain Corum on my wrist easing my pain

Thanks for letting it go but that corum is a great rep too. Sounds like we are happy campers, I'm wearing the 111 today. Thanks again MK and all the best to you. :D

I'm not really sure but I would assume it is. MK08 could probably tell you where the case came from since he was the original buyer...I don't think it came from Davidsen because Flav did the modding.
