Under £200 visually on point

I am buying a £400+ watch so I get the quality of a working watch however I am interested in buying some lower end Miyota watches around £100. My question is, does a £100 watch shout out 'fake' or does one exist that would need to be inspected, or opened up to be sure? I know this is an absolutely broad question so I am seeing if there is a certain 'make' that is more on-point visually. What is the first thing YOU look for to identify a rep or gen? Thanks :)

I don't, truthfully.

I never care what anyone else is wearing & expect most don't care what I wear, if they do 🤷‍♂️

If it gives them a smile and it costs £10, £100,£1000 or >£10000, irregardless of amount, it's none of my business.

Know it's not really what you asked, but to enjoy this hobby, it's a decent approach.

Some members spend thousands, sometimes 5 figures, trying to franken watches with mods & gen parts, & others are very happy with ootb, so it's whatever floats your boat, it's your money.

As for ~£100 watches, if trying to replicate a top tier brand, yes, there will be flaws, there are flaws on a £400 watch too, just more on the cheaper one :)

Pick the watch you like, then start investigating the options. Looking at price first isn't the best way IMHO.

Love this attitude, and advice thanks, I also agree whatever makes you happy rock it. I am interested in the art of replication so for me if its a name brand rep I want to know its only a small number of people that could identify it as a replica.

Same here.

Since you are in UK, as I am, I will recommend RepSource his budget Submariners and other non chrono's at this level are, looks wise almost indistinguishable.

He gets some really cracking pieces at £130 - 180 ish.

He also sells high end watches at great prices too. His service is great.
I've bought around 33 now with no issues at all and very happy with all (y)

Thanks for the recommendation, funny enough I'm trying to buy one maybe two from him now :) Just waiting payment details. I'm going for a higher end watch and a £130 so I can compare myself. So do you sell them on or do you have 33 watches on display? :)

Less than £100 each and from a field away Pagani look decent enough….these are beaters AND claim have 10bar or 20bar ( explorer ) waterproof so I don’t care what I wear them for.

in fact the speedy homage is actually a pretty decent watch all around

+1 for Rep-source he's got some excellent cheaper pieces and at his prices if they break you just buy another one!

I don't sell any so far, I had a few DHG disasters which I give to our 18yr old disabled grandson, he stayed with us last year and ended up spending all his allowance "collecting watches like grandad does", so I felt kinda guilty, and now I give him a few every now and then.

Currently I have around 80 watches, 51 of which are in a display cabinet, the rest are languishing in a drawer presently, until I build the much bigger but same design of cabinet ;) 33 of these at todays date were bought from RepSource. The rest were M2M and a couple of other TD's.
I am currently planning on starting to build it this Sunday, since I've had all the parts since before Christmas, but life stuff kept getting in the way so far.

"Who, ME !! Compulsive obsessive? The hellfcuk yeah !! " 🤣

Seriously though, I've had all sorts of hobbies over the years and all of them were way more expensive than Rep watches ;)
