I was in town today walking past a store which sells Gen pieces & low & behold they had a 232....
I was 90% certain that my next Pan would be a CALI, but seeing this gorgeous piece in person, has completely swayed me!! Had I seen a CALI I am sure I'd be posting pics from my "ordered" piece (more than likely from DSN)....
So I've been researching the 232 since we got home this afternoon.

Question is who has the "ultimate 232"...? Is there such as best "out of the box, or will I have to get the case from guy A & send it to guy B to ge the correct dial & hands...yadda...yadda...I know it all dpends on how perdantic I want to be, but just want the best OOTB.
Anyone have the DSN 232?
Thoughts please...cheers guys.....!
This place will be the end of me...need sleep!!

DSN's dial and hands are the best out there, bar none.

The Cartel has a better case back and case with pointy-er corners. Taiji built a 232 using exactly these parts, IIRC. He posted a thread about it here. Do a search for it, there's some good reading in there.

G'day HOOLI,
Excuse my naiveté...."The cartel"?
I did research the post from taiji RE his "franken 232" which got me onto the "problem" of the more rounded corners from DSNs 232....
I guess it doesn't help in so far as if I bought DSNs, it'll bug me that the case is "too rounded & not correct", don't get me wrong if I wanted the Gen I'd spend the $10K AUD....(which I could never do).
From his report & the general consensus is DSNs everything including crystal with AR except the case ??

"The Cartel" = Josh/Andrew/King, perhaps other dealers as well.

I'm sure Hont or Ruby could source you the 232 with the better case and at a better price than anyone else.

Thanks HOOLI....
do you think I should factor in a re-lume job & AR job after I get the 232.....?

What I would do is order the complete watch from Hont/Ruby/whomever and then order the dial/hands from DSN. Then simply have the new dial and hands installed (have them flatten and polish the canon pin while you're at it). That will likely even be cheaper than having the hands/dial relumed.

As to the AR - the AR on my gen PAMs has been nothing to write home about, with regards to its effectiveness. So, I would only have the AR removed/re-coated if it is *really* blue.

That's just me, though.

HOOLI,
do you know if the 249 Cali dial suffers from the same "too round-not sharp enough case" issue?
I'm very much interested in both these pieces...
BTW ... Thank you so much for your expertise!!!

I have acquired 10 reps this year, from 4 different dealers. Without question, the DSN 232 I got is a league apart; both the dealer and the watch. I don't know about the case "roundness" but everyone, including a luxury watch maker, has double-taked on the DSN. It looks and feels gen and it was worth every cent.

Yep, same case, just different dials and hands.

@ pedecter -- Absolutely. I have purchased many, many DSN watches through the years I've been here and they have a certain feel/presence about them that is hard to come by in reps.
