In my opinion - they never matched the blue sheen on this face.
Bought it back in 2017 when I joined the forum - my very first blue-faced watch. The blue sheen looks amazing in the light, and inside it has a more broody, dark blue face, bordering on black.
As far as I know Davidsen made x3 versions of this watch with the engraved Vespucci back, and this is the earliest version Davidsen made, so has a couple of flaws (do your research) but since there are only 300 gens out there in the world - highly unlikely anyone's going to call you on it
The movement gave up the ghost in 2019 and it has sat in a drawer since then. I am 'purging' watches though - so sent this off to our very own @Oeilvert who helped rebuild the watch with:
Case stripped and cleaned
New ST36 movement installed
Crown stem and case clamps/screws installed
Regulated to +/-1spd
All gaskets greased and reassembled
So you are getting a piece of history that isn't about to flunk out on you.
I've fitted a brand new unused aftermarket PAM strap with PAM buckle that matches the colour of the face, and brand new PAM spring bars.
Also included is a vintage thick brown leather strap that would look great with the blue face.
As with other sales - would like to think I am well enough known to be trusted with Paypal F&F - but also super cool with doing it the traditional Paypal way - though I would then be asking the buyer to pay the extra PP fees.
Will be bomb-proof packed etc etc.
