So I finally got my jimmyfu case back from the local watchsmith. I figured I'd give the guy a try. He has a bunch of restored rollies in his display case that he did himself, and since he is a buddy of my father in laws I figured WTF lets give him a whirl. So I pick it up. He had to set the DSN crystal in place with epoxy. looked good. I got home and noticed that the hight seemed a bit off. i ran my finger over the crystal, and it felt recessed in the middle. when i ran my finger over the inside of the crystal, you could feel a definate bump. so i put in the movement with the tall canon pin, and it was hitting the middle of the crystal.

UGH!

back it goes tomorrow to have him remove it and re set it.

well, he is more of a jeweller (best in town some say) than a watch smith. i don't think he can rebuild a movement, but if you wanted to bling up a dial with diamonds, he is your guy.

for twenty bucks i guess i shouldn't complain too much.

is it easy an easy mistake to put it in upside down? especialy one without a proper gasket going into a jimmy case?

that lit up my rather dismal day, thank you mate. good on ya.

actually the watch guy called me and appologized profusly. he fixed it and is waiting for it to cure.

Yeah Pete, I would imagine that it was rather embarrassing for the watchsmith. Oh well, as long as he made it right no harm done.

@ harrm...

nah, i work around emails all day long, i have become a master in determining if somenone is being, funny, sarcastic, etc etc.

that was good because i read it whilst at work and having a bitch of a day. being called a dago-wop-bastard by a client and having to retain my composure because i represent the crown really pissed me off.

dago-wop-bastard?!?...the fact you are not in cuffs leads me to believe the appropriate level of composure was on display.

Pete, in your job I am sure that the previous reference to your nationality and parentage was probably mild compared to some of what you have been called! :D

well, I have been called a number of things. some a little too "blue" to post here.

at the end of it all though, i still get a nice paycheque every two weeks, and a pension, not to mention, holidays, sick days, etc etc.

however through it all, i have never gotten as mad as i did after recieving a watch with an upside down crystal  :D
