This is a great tutorial made by Veloci back in 2006 at TRC, original thread can be found here: [ http://www.replicacollector.com/members/index.php?&&showtopic=18430&hl=pearls# ] - Thought I might put it here for the members as TRC is probably not known by the newer crowd:

Friend, this is interesting. However, some questions.

Are you using a rep bezel insert?

Probably we would like to see some intermediate steps...how removing the old pearl and how fixing the new one....

Thanks for sharing...

Hi mate, wish I could answer that for you but this Tutorial was made by Veloci back in 2006 @ TRC forum, however after reading your question I searched a bit and it seems the bezel with the correct pearl position is from the old-school SMP like shown here:

Thanks Guanaco:

I have been searching for a cheap solution for the pearl problem of seamasters.

I find relatively easy to make that pearl, as I have a lathe. But, yes, we need another insert, as the hole in the nowadays insert is too big, so the triangle is not correct.

I will continue considering this mod....

Regards,

Francisco

I shouldered the back of my mod so it would hold as per the gen. You have to mill the back of the insert to to get it level. First pic is a practice piece. Second pic is of Gen Inserts for the SMP, 2531 and 2254

Oh wow, I forgot about this thread. I'm glad I saved the tutorial pics on my photobucket account as the page disappeared.

This also reminds me I have a genuine dial and hands for the SMP project I never started, lmao they've been sitting there forgotten for years!
