Tungsten Weighted GSF vs JDF vs QF vs KF vs N+F

Hello Gents,

I am long time member but not very educated in Rolex reps, I mostly have focused in AP, Patek, and Vacheron. Mainly because I have several gen Rolex which in the past have been easier to obtain, although not anymore.

So I was scrolling new releases in PureTime and noticed there are several factories producing these weighted with Tungsten Rolex and I could not find a good thread to summarise some of differences between factories.

As the title suggests, I would appreciate any feedback on the factories of GSF, JDF, QF, KF, and N+F, but only with regard to the Tungsten versions. When I read the descriptions some of them say they have added Cu-W, which I believe is a Tungsten copper alloy composition.

Also, on some descriptions they mentioned the bracelet has also been composed of a tungsten mixture, but in other factory descriptions this is not listed. Of course I am aware that the descriptions from the TDs are to be expected having inaccuracies.

My next question would be, does anyone understand the manufacturing processes of these versions, are they making the mold of the case entirely from tungsten copper composition, or are they inserting additional material into a stainless steel case somehow?

What about the clasps, are these also molded from the heavier tungsten copper alloy or just stainless? If so which factories have done the clasps in Cu-W?

Which of the factories have done a White gold plating over the tungsten copper composition? We can tell obviously when it is yellow or rose gold, but not so obvious when it is White gold. I would assume they have to use a White gold plating if indeed they are forming the case mold and bracelet mold with Cu-W, because it would have a horrible colour and would need to be plated.

Finally, any imagery of pieces from members would be appreciated with perhaps some comparisons to other reps, such as a White gold plated to a stainless version. Or perhaps comparisons of weights on non Cu-W versions to stainless etc.

Thank you in advance to all who may contribute. Happy new year!

Forgot to mention the weighted APSF 15400 AP which is how I came across the Rolex weighted versions to begin with and piqued my interests. That is in the AP section discussed.

And why is the QF version almost doubling the prices of the other factories? Is this so much better of a quality or simply that mostly they are making the Daytona versions and other factories are making Day Date and Yacht Master which are less complex movements?

Well, in my continued research from the various TD websites it appears I missed another factory that is using the tungsten, which is GMF factory. Please let me know some feedback for this version as well. Mostly interested in the Day Date by the way.

Also I like the TD website way to describe these as "gain weight"

Also Gold Factory. Could this be either GSF or GMF variation? Or all three different?

They are all very far away from Gen. fat bezels and mediochre finishing. That wait distribution is weird. There’s no good DD yet.

I've just bought a Tungsten WG plated Platona, Daytona, Ice blue dial with baguettes - see the thread about watches built in Tungsten (it's a current running thread but I can't remember it's exact name). Weight came in at 224 g which is about the same as gold (Tungsten way heavier).
BUT HERE'S THE "RUB" - because I have such a skinny wrist, by the time I take out links, without a s/s Daytona in your other hand, it makes me wonder if the weight difference is worth about 300+% increase in price? I'm very glad I bought it and I would recommend xing.david on here if you wanted one built for you. I guess it gets done to price AND it is STILL lighter than a Gen Platinum (I knew this would be the case before I started).

On another note, the watch has an oyster bracelet - does anyone know a TD who can get a JUBILEE band in Tungsten/ white gold plated to fit a Daytona? ANY HELP GREATLY APPRECIATED!

Beautiful piece @bowtiefanatc thank you for sharing the weight as well.

In an email from PureTime it appears they feel the GMF company is superior to GSF. Also they claim GMF is the same factory as JDF. And JDF has V2 versions of the Day Date now.

Also it appears that SWF makes a tungsten weighted clasp, so for those that are getting rubber straps and clasps might want to check into those versions.

If you got a platona rep wouldn’t you want it plated in platinum instead of WG?

Ah yes I read those threads from him. Also I hear those reps from Xingdavid are quite expensive in the thousands of dollars.
