Hello Gents,
I am long time member but not very educated in Rolex reps, I mostly have focused in AP, Patek, and Vacheron. Mainly because I have several gen Rolex which in the past have been easier to obtain, although not anymore.
So I was scrolling new releases in PureTime and noticed there are several factories producing these weighted with Tungsten Rolex and I could not find a good thread to summarise some of differences between factories.
As the title suggests, I would appreciate any feedback on the factories of GSF, JDF, QF, KF, and N+F, but only with regard to the Tungsten versions. When I read the descriptions some of them say they have added Cu-W, which I believe is a Tungsten copper alloy composition.
Also, on some descriptions they mentioned the bracelet has also been composed of a tungsten mixture, but in other factory descriptions this is not listed. Of course I am aware that the descriptions from the TDs are to be expected having inaccuracies.
My next question would be, does anyone understand the manufacturing processes of these versions, are they making the mold of the case entirely from tungsten copper composition, or are they inserting additional material into a stainless steel case somehow?
What about the clasps, are these also molded from the heavier tungsten copper alloy or just stainless? If so which factories have done the clasps in Cu-W?
Which of the factories have done a White gold plating over the tungsten copper composition? We can tell obviously when it is yellow or rose gold, but not so obvious when it is White gold. I would assume they have to use a White gold plating if indeed they are forming the case mold and bracelet mold with Cu-W, because it would have a horrible colour and would need to be plated.
Finally, any imagery of pieces from members would be appreciated with perhaps some comparisons to other reps, such as a White gold plated to a stainless version. Or perhaps comparisons of weights on non Cu-W versions to stainless etc.
Thank you in advance to all who may contribute. Happy new year!
