I've done some searching but can't find the answer I need. I bought a Pelagos XF V4 M2M that was dead upon arrival. I hear the rotor spinning and I can wind and change the date but no movement. Has anyone swapped the Miyota 9015 with an ETA 2824-2 clone such as the Seagull version I find on ebay? If not, are there any modders/tinkerers that can shed light on what would be needed to do that? There is also 2824 movement rings and clamp screws available on ebay that I'm assuming would be required.

The next plan would be to just swap the dead Miyota with a new Miyota again from ebay. Is this just a direct swap assuming I don't care about the decorations added by the factory?

Different hand stack for the 2824 vs the 9015, so unfortunately not possible in addition to the number of other pieces you would need (movement spacers, dial with properly placed dial pins for the 2824, etc).

Good news is yes, just swap the dead 9015 for a new one or if you are feeling really cheap a 8015 :). Who cares about the decoration, it's a closed caseback.

In one of the topics on the forum about Pelagos was information from the owner that he was unable to install 9015 instead of a faulty one. What exactly went wrong was not specified.

knock firmly against the watch with your finger, 9015 often start poorly , had same problem with a B&R , once knocked it runs like a champ

I finally got around to opening the case back to see if I could find something obvious that was causing issues and found a 2824 clone movement instead of the 9015 the seller stated. I'm assuming I could just swap with another 2824 without issue? Does anyone have knowledge or experience of whether it is a straight swap?
