Tudor Pelagos (LHD) - The word on ZF v V6F?

Hey guys,

I've searched and read quite a few threads here on the Pelagos and the comparisons between ZF v1, v2, KW, and Gen and my head is spinning. Is there a general consensus on the best overall super rep? It seems like the balance is between color fidelity and physical/cosmetic detailing. Does anyone own both and is there such a thing as the definitive "this or that?"

Thanks for the advice and so, so much expertise here!

The ZF seems to use white hour markers filled with yellow lume, I V6 looks more gen to me.

Just got this reply back from InTime.
"Thank you for your enquiry! In my opinion, the V6 is better since the lume color is better."
Ordered!

The problem with V6F's is that lume are done wrong... so maybe they have the right color, but the lumes are placed above the markers and not inside, which is an ultra-obvious tell.

This is GEN. On V6F's, lumers are not integrated into the markers.

See yourself, this is V6F's.

I wouldn't base my entire assessment against gen using images from the Tudor website. Things change and vary with gen just like they do with reps.

Here's my spring-2017 gen on the left and V6F on the right. The physical structure of the markers and the lume fill are pretty much identical. The ONLY difference is the lume performance.

Here's why the rep still sucks against gen...in the dark.

@IceBear454 How much worse is the rep lume to the gen? Does it take a lot more charging to get it bright? Or does it fade a lot quicker (as I assume the photos show). How quickly does it fade?

Hi Chimp,
  1. It never gets as bright as gen no matter how long you charge it
  2. It fades much faster than gen no matter the charge level
In other words, unfortunately, it is inferior in every way.

Looks amazing @IceBear454 , the GEN Tudor Pelo lume is outstanding in everyway and hasn't been replicated :)

It's possible the regular Blue and Black Pelagos lume have been sorted. I think if I were to order a late model LHD, I would ask for a lume shot to:
  • Verify dial and bezel color match
  • Get a sense for the lume output
Of course, without some known quantity to compare it to, a one-off lume shot could be very misleading. A short video clip would be more useful than a static image without any information about time and exposure. Because it would give a dynamic sense for the decay of the lume glow.

As it is, the watch is wearable and satisfying to all but serious rep-peepers. A funny day today for me. I started out with the rep and then switched to the gen before going out for the afternoon. What does this say? I just love the style and wearability and I want some form of it as my watch and choosing between the two is sometimes just on a whim and other times because of the possibility for damage.

I wonder if there is a way to relume the bezel of the Pelagos (maybe from the inside?). Reluming the markers and the hands shouldn't be a problem, but that would look awkward with a much darker bezel lume.

By the way, would a relume with SuperLuminova have the same intensity as the gen lume?

It would be a challenging job I think. You'd have to push out or ream out the existing lume and some of the details are quite small/sharp.

Regarding Super Lumi-Nova, I don't know. But this link shows a pretty good comparison of many common lume grades.
