Now that the topic got your attention (a 1000 pardons), i'm naively trying to get some of the TD's attention to this gap hoping they will see the potential.
So, please reply with a thumbs up if you are interested in a "Tudor fabric nato strap" and specify how much are you willing to pay.

i'll go 1st: 50$ (.. i would by about 5 pieces at that 50$ each if well made).

BTW, i hope i'm not braking any of the forum rules with this sorta' pole (, if so, i apologies in advance).

I'd be more than happy to pay if I can get 1 for $50!

I have a gen Ranger and the fabric weave and handfeel of the gen strap is so good there's no way they can come near if you expect to pay $50 for 5.

BTW, the original fabric is a blend of polyester, cotton and silk. And with that yarn blend you can expect it to be expensive.

a watch is meant to be worn

This sure caught my attention. $30 - $40, all depending on the reviews.

Any idea how i can move this into the Tudor sub category (i carelessly open this under Rolex)?
I opened a request with administration, but if i can do this myself ill be happy to know how.

I think if the natos were to be replicated it would have happened by now. plus if it does happen they will most likely rep those ugly new ones.

Good luck, I would buy one.
Sadly though they can't even replicate the SPECTRE NATO quality.

Yep, I'm in for at least 2. A camo for the Ranger and a Black for my BB Red. $30-$50 depending on quality.

These are going to be VERY hard to replicate to OEM quality, if not impossible.

A huge part of what makes the Tudor straps so amazing is the type of construction. It's called a Jacquard weave and it can only be done on special machines by specially trained artisans. The company that manufactures them from Tudor uses obsolete 150 year old weaving looms (they have to fabricate their own parts when one breaks). Last year I actually e-mailed them to ask if they could manufacture a smaller quantity of watch straps, but I didn't get very far since I don't speak French and/or represent a multinational corporation. (http://www.julien-faure.fr/accueil_uk.htm)

IF the factories were able to find a vendor that had a Jacquard loom, it would almost certainly be cost prohibitive. I'm not saying it can't be done. Timefactors got theirs REALLY CLOSE with their Omega "seatbelt" style NATOs. But that essentially came down to finding a vendor that could produce quality super high thread count straps and do it at a price that made sense. In replicating the Tudor straps you're talking about using machinery and specialized training that just isn't possible at the cost the rep factories need.

That being said, I also think it's possible to produce lesser quality waxed cotton or canvas style straps that would look and feel similar, and I'm sort of surprised that hasn't happened yet. But I just don't think OEM quality is going to happen.

i see your point and naturally, i don't expect the factories to fully go old school on this, but after seeing what they are capable of, this seems doable .. the one colored straps at least.
