Tudor Black Shield GEN - worth it?

Never had a Tudor before and was never really into Rolex/Tudor to begin with. Both remind me a bit of Tag Heuer as they are sold in every mall but the Black Shield in bronze caught my attention.
Tudor is basically the same as Rolex with a different movement from my understanding and priced at the lower end market.
The watch below runs at about $4,000 give or take - worth to buy the GEN or any good rep with barely any tells on it?
It would surely make a good beater which I would prefer while riding a bike over my modded AP's. They are somewhat a holy grail to me as I can't just get another one in 10mins unlike the Tudor below.

Please don’t get me wrong, not trying to come of like 4k is not a lot of money, but I owned several GEN AP’s before, so I think anything up to 5k makes a good beater. Just like a good franken AP but those are just worth more to me, not from a monetary standpoint but the way I value them and I can’t just get a quick replacement like I can get on a Tudor. I can get the Tudor fixed in any mall around here, but some franken or modded AP will take weeks with shipping back and forth.
So it’s all about perceived value I guess.

Yeah I see your point about being able to repair it easily and Franken AP's being harder to come by.

Glad we are on the same page :) A franken is just more perceived value to me, even if it's just a heavily modded piece but those can't just be bought as easily as a Tudor.
In comparison the price difference between a franken AP and a Tudor as beater is marginal as well ;)

JoeyT coming from the man who buys franken rolexes like bottled water

tbh i think its a very nice piece, the ceramic material makes it an incredible daily beater for casual wear... its a pretty good price point to boot when you combine the movement reliability and quality checks rolex does

Sorry for bumping this, but just saw pure-time has some reps listed. Anyone got their hands on it yet?
Noticed the gen black shield is available for around $2,500 in malls around here. How is the rep?
Is it one of those Hublot Big Bang situations where the rep is basically just like the gen ? (same movement etc..)
Excuse my ignorance but I have never been into Rolex/Tudor. Just the black shield caught my attention for some odd reason.

I wouldn't buy a rep of a $2k watch. That's a reasonable price for most any average income worker and it's warrantied!

I got first version Blackshield with stainless DLC plate. Yes it is a good rep with A7753 movement same as gen ETA7753. It is a good quality rep except the strap is so ugly. New Blackshield V2 has available to TD with ceramic case. Well made but quite difficult to find 44mm strap to fit with Tudor buckle clasp.

That is kind of a broad generalization. And even though many people might be able to afford a $2k gen it doesn't mean they want to spend that on a watch.

I noticed there are two versions on puretime now. You are referring to the one with the brown leather strap or are both straps garbage?

For some reason when you look at the back case it seems like the black comes of easy. Only thing that might worry me is the black rub against something is it gonna show white scratch marks easy only reason I would stay away.but that's just me.might be wrong.

Uhh.. that sounds like something I don't want to worry about. Basically just buying the watch as they have the Ducati edition and I would wear it while riding. GEN it is than.
Thanks for the input ! Will update the threads with pictures shortly!
