Hi Folks,

Long-time lurker here. My Tudor Black Bay is due to arrive tomorrow and I intend to give the bracelet the baby oil treatment to make it nice and smooth. However, I've read some horror stories on here about how hard the bracelet is remove. Does anybody know a decent technique to remove the bracelet?:whistling:

I use a hammer and a brick myself. If the first one doesnt work, the second will.

In all honesty, it is a bit difficult. I use a springbar removal tool I bought from Ofrei and I say a short prayer prior to every bracelet change. I'm tempted to widen the bracelet lug holes with my dremel so I have more room to remove it next time its off.

Doesn't fill me with hope!:laugh:
I saw a video on youtube of somebody removing the bracelet from a gen pelagos quite easily using a pair of blunt tweezers. Might be worth a try!

This - spend some money on a good springbar tool - you really won't regret it !

My spring bar tool does not fit in my subc bracelet notches, for that, I use the narrowest screwdriver, which I have now chipped the edges off of so it only is for this watch. The spring bar tool works great on all my other watches. Definitely worth the money.

Do you have a recommendation on which one / where to buy? Mine is a horrible piece of garbage. Thanks!

I've got a couple cheap springbar tools that I've collected over the years (some straps come with a cheap one). For those narrow holes, I just sanded or filed one of them down to get into tighter places. Might help some of you that are having trouble.

I have had 3 black bays and don't recall it being difficult to remove the bracelet.
I usually use a thumbtack.
