Tudor Black Bay Black

Ok she is on the wrist for a couple of hours now. Little background information. I am mainly a four and five digit guy and I have tried to love the modern Rolexes but always seem to go back to vintage.


First impression: Awesome wrist presence. I was able to get bracelet sized just right. Not quite ready to try and mess with the spring bars to try the fabric strap yet and not sure that will work for me anyways as it will make it sit a touch higher. I have ordered a nice strap from B&S for it.


In direct sunlight the dial gives off some cool vintage looking grey tones.


After wearing my 1675 in to work today, the BBB is huge by comparison. Not in a bad way but just much beefier. So far it really is better than expected. Has the modern ruggedness and durability but with some vintage flair and notes.


The touch of black on the crown tube is a nice addition. Dial is really good, be nice if it was the old school relief gilt but it definitely looks the part. Just does not offer the same effect in sunlight that a real gilt dial does. Crystal could use a little more dome action.


The lume is truly awesome. After just a few minutes outside she really glows.


All and all very happy so far. This may turn out to be a very good relationship at much less cost and risk of wearing a collectable vintage piece. Hopefully this quenches my thirst for another vintage gilt sub. I know my wife would be much happier with this one...LOL

Oooh nice pickup sir! I usually wear the 36 or 40mm vintage pieces too but the chunkiness of the black bay has its place and a much more modern(louder) presence without being too douchey(ala Hublot).
You say the crystal could stand to be more domed but being used to seeing the rep Black Bays more than Gens the crystal looks awesome!

From DAVIDSW a trusted dealer over on the rolex forum. Grey dealer who buys from the AD and sells them. Came with everything just like it would from the AD with warrantee, but I did not have to wait until December which is what my AD informed me the time frame would be. Couple things of note:

While the case is thick, the case back is actually slightly recessed and the lugs have slight taper so it sits nice and flat on the wrist. I have a bony 7.25 inch wrist and the size works great. Actually sits better than a 5513 or 16610 because of the flat/recessed case back. A touch top heavier than my other pieces, but overall one of the most comfortable watches I have worn. Does not look or feel too big or large. Not overly blingy but substantial.

Bracelet is outstanding, smooth, comfortable and functional. I have not tried the fabric strap yet so no comment. It is well made.

The texture on the dial and insert are what really make it work. The texture adds the vintage look/feel to it and it changes the color tones. Does some really cool things in different lighting. Dial is nice and big and easy to read. While the print gilt does not give off the relief gilt awesomeness in sunlight, the chapter ring actually does have some of that effect in different lighting.

IMHO just a lot of watch for the money. After a couple of days I like it more than when I got it which is unusual for me......
