Hi guys,
Today I want to show you some cheap mods for a more gen like look. My object is a Tudor BBB made by ZF with rose logo.
Let‘s start with my crystal mod. The edge of the rep crystal is not clear but matte. So you might be missing some optical effects the gen is showing under certain angles. I decided to polish the crystal edge with diamond compound. Here are some pics of this process:
Fitting new gasket:
Abrasives:
Look and feel:
Next I polished up the rehaut for a bit more shine:
Polishing utilities:
After that I modified the A2824 for only 2 setting steps because there is no date. But be aware you have to change the whole keyless work for eta parts. Changing only this setting lever does not fit to the asia movement!
Unfortunately ZF forgot to put white base color on the underside of the hand‘s lume. You might do this to make the lume a bit stronger and brighter with some acrylic paint:
My bezel insert got scratched so I replaced it with a HR item. But HR‘s insert has got a really shitty pearl with weak lume and a scratched rim. So I had to drill out the lume and repolish the rim. After that the pearl has been relumed step by step with white base color, lume and an epoxy cover:
Result:
Gen pearl for comparison:
After all I performed several little things on the bracelet and clasp. It‘s important to pay attention to all the little parts and details. For example I deburred and repolished every screw. The inner shield logo of the clasp has been polished, too. After that you won‘t notice those awful stamping marks.
Here are some impressions:
Rough surface made by ZF. Not very much to improve here. Rebrushed and deburred:
No more protruding springbars at the clasp:
Final satin finish with Gerryflex abrasive medium:
Overall a gorgeous watch!
Look at those nice optical effects on the crystal edge. You can clearly see the dial markers reflecting in the crystal edge area!
Lume ist o. k. but does not last for many hours.
I hope you enjoy this little workout. If you have got any questions feel free to ask!
Best regards
Andi
