While trying to set the time I accidentally pulled out the crown and stem. There does not seem to be any damage done, but simply inserting it into the watch has no effect. I can't wind or set time.

I plan to send it to a smith to get fixed but have a few questions.

1. Any recommendations for who should work on this? It is the JK fac model 9411 bought from Angus a few months back

2. Any other work that I might as well do now since it is going in? I'm shopping for a gen crown, tube and stem since I figure that if it is getting cracked open I should make hay and all that

I should add that I am shamelessly using this to justify buying a blue snowflake to help fill the gap and salve my pain. Hopefully it will not suffer the same fate.

Sounds like the keyless is messed up. They can be reset but require some skills and disassembly/ reassembly. Search pn 2836 keyless repair on the forum.

Thanks for the advice. Will start checking. Any other work you would recommend on a stock JK fac?

Yep, if you are doing a gen crown and tube you might as well have the crown guards shaped as well. There is plenty of meat on them and they really can be made to look very gen like.

If this was your piece would you be doing the work yourself or send it out? I'm checking the board for 2836 keyless repair and making a list of who could do it.

I do my own work. The keyless can be a pain in the behind to fix. Once you have worked you way through it its becomes fairly straight forward.

Same is true of the shape work. A little practice and you can get great results.

A $230 JK snowy is not a terribly expensive piece to learn on either.

Plenty of you tube tutorials on the keyless fix.

If you munch the movement its a great excuse to find a gen ETA.
