I know everyone is excited about the BB54 and Pelagos but I’ve seen the Royal 1926 reps and, while they look to be a lower quality, I was wondering if anyone has tried them. Now I’ve not checked with an AD on the availability so it may not be relevant.

Anyway, has anyone tried this?

GDF is low tier quality, slightly above DHGate level.

No experience with the 1926 but that's my personal assessment of the GDF.

Yeah, the GDF is what kept me from moving on this. That said, one of my favorite watches that I’ve had for a dozen years is an IWC FA Jones that was considered a lower tier. Happy I got it.

I suppose we’ve become spoiled with some of the excellent quality we see.

IRC, a old factory by the name of KKF used to make the 1926. But that was 4 years ago.

I received this today. Although I was hesitant to order GDF, I wanted this model and it was the only option. I contacted Steve at theonewatches and he sourced this; I had not used Steve before and wanted to give him a try. Upon getting the QC pics I was concerned about the color, perhaps I was on guard given it was purported to be a lower quality factory. After Steve sent an additional video I was slightly more convinced it was good and approved the watch. He sent on April 26 and I had it today which was probably a week before I expected it.

Tudor makes the gen in several sizes and Steve has this on his site as a 41mm. It’s actually a 39mm which is also an offered gen size. I’m okay with that.

I’m actually blown away with the quality. Very smooth winding and the bracelet is fantastic. The dial is everything I hoped for and yes, the color is spot on. It feels great on the arm and really pops. I really like wearing this watch!

The only shortcoming is the crystal which does not appear to be sapphire (I‘m not surprised) and the lack of anti reflective detracts considerably. I imagine I’ll order a new crystal and I just might put a gen in. Given the gen watch is selling at less than $2k, I don’t want to put too much into it.

Big thanks to Jarken who gave me QC advice and sent pics of his. Great community!

I do agree with everything you said here. Nice and quick review of a cool watch Thats sits under normal rep prices. I have had mine for almost a year and still running smooth. The best part is being able to wear it daily without being afraid to scratch it.

Anyone else have any feedback on this?

I’m looking at one at the moment but haven’t pulled the trigger yet. Worried about the longevity of a lower end rep.
