Trusty time newbie-prank?

I ordered a VSF sub .. and it came with what looks like a crown gasket in the packaging.. I thought, maybe its a spare? maybe its left out by accident? maybe its still waterproof without it? So I opened it up and looked.. the thing dont even seem like its a gasket for this crown... what could it be for? well I saved it in its packaging.. LOL
