Tropical 6239 Daytona Gen Spec Build! [Pic Heavy]

Just finished one of my favorite references! The 6239 Daytona with tropical dial. The dial is originally black, then aged in a humid space for almost 2 years to get a nice dark brown. You can see that it's different than a dial that would be printed in brown - much more natural.

That's a good question. I know I've seen a couple gen dials like this too but can't seem to find any answer. There is one in Steffano's blog regarding these T SWISS T typography but nothing with these dash. Only ones with or without sigma designation.

I found some -SWISS- dials (i.e. missing the T's), which as far as I remember were prototype dials from Singer. I bookmarked it somewhere, but I can't seem to find it right now.

Completely agreed! When I first got into Daytonas I ONLY wanted screwed down pushers. But eventually I grew more fond of pump pushers. Just a classic look and so different than all other generations of Daytonas thereafter. I guess they just shows a lot of history. I always see a pump pusher Daytona on the steering wheel of a sports car as the ultimate cool factor!

I haven't seen many of the - SWISS - either but if you have a copy of the Daytona Story book you could look it up. I want to see if there is a PDF copy floating around before I fork out the $500 for the damn thing!
