Tools needed to open the case back?

Well it looks like I damaged my second watch in a week. I dropped my DSN 240 on the floor and the rotor came off. The watch still works fine but I can hear the rotor and screw bouncing around. The case back is huge and none of my regular watch openers will work. I've been looking online for a case opener that can handle at least 40mm. Will the rubber ball or duct tape trick work or can you link me to a case back opener that will work? It's a DSN so it's water proofed to 3ATMs. Any help is appreciated.

usually duct tape will work, in addition i take a mojito plunger and put tape on the front.
that always worked good.

Thanks for the visual and the idea. I've only heard about the duct tape trick and never actually found out what is involved. If you don't mind, could you tell me how to do it? Also what's on the end of the mojito plunger? is it double sided tape?

yes it is double sided tape, but you can also use normal tape and wrap it around.
the i stick the tape on the watchback, and put the the plunger on the tape.
and then just turn anti-clockwise and your caseback should be open.
you can use any other thing that will boost your torgue on the caseback,
as long as it sticks to the tape.
i for example also used a vitaminpills tube like this:

works also, just be creative :)

search on the bay 'sticky ball watch'

Will this technique work on a Gen?
Can you close the caseback tight enough to make sure it is water resistant after opening (assuming it was serviced and water resistant to begin with)?

You can also use thick rubber gloves as well. I was all set to buy a caseback opener when on a whim, I tried the rubber gloves and presto, I got the caseback to open.

Yes - Gen caseback is the same as rep.
You can seal it tight - remember though if you over tighten it actually has an inverse effect and will make the watch selectable to water (will not allow the rubber gasket the correct amount of flex it needs to properly seal the watch)

Thanks for all the help and ideas. I used a doubleshot shot glass (the tall and skinny kind) with double sided tape and the caseback came off no problem. The rotor is fixed and my PAM is once again attached properly to my wrist!
