Hi, my girlfriend is in shanghai for a couple of days and I want her to get me a Panarai 111j and a Rolex Submariner. I would like the best Reps she can get, I'm after some advice, what shall i tell her to look for to ensure she gets the best reps possible? Certain things on each watch that should be checked?

Also what sort of money do you think I should tell her to spend as my max budget? I was thinking about £100 each?

Thanks!

It's gonna to be very difficult... Especially if your gf is new to the rep scene...

I would wear one of the ultimates available in this forum and use it to compare. If the seller is able to bring out something similar, then I would go with the seller, specifying that I only want watches from these sources... Use words like Swiss engine and ask them to open up the backs...

You are likely to be quoted the moon, then you need to bargain down to 5 percent of what was quoted. They will get mad at you and refuse to sell to you...

Finally u settle on a price... You bring it back, take pics and we will probably tear it apart and tell you its worth less than your 50 dollar 21js sol by our TDs

Well I got a Panerai, it cost around $60 US. The strap may not match the face thats because I requested a brown strap an my girlfriend got the seller to change it over from a black one. It keeps good time and feels nice, the second hand is perfectly smooth. Not sure if it's a good rep or not? But i'm happy with it! Here's a few photos..taken on my phone.

I think for how much you got it... It's a good buy. Know if it's sapphire? Also does the crown guard serve a function? And is the crown guard lever feel scrawny?

Are the dial numbers green like that or was the lume charged?

I honestly think you over paid but it was only $60 anyways. I'd stick with the trusted dealers from here on unless you plan on goin yourself.

The crown gourd is really tough with very little play, not weak atall and yeah it's sapphire glass. The lume must have been charged slightly, I was taking that photo under about 30 down lighters!

Compared to the Lite versions of the 111 sold before I think it is a good buy. The CGpin is what immediately strikes my eye as bad quality rep, but I would definately buy this watch :) The movement will be hidden so that does not really matter to me.

Some even sell their rep straps for almost half the price of this watch :p Subtract the strap from it and you have got quite a good looking watch for 40$

If you swap out the polished crown guard for a brushed version you would have a decent 111H rep. Shouldn't cost you too much. As it stands now, you have a fantasy model.

Dial is decent actually and for $60, not a bad deal.

Cool, thanks for your feedback. The crown guard lever thing is brushed rather than shiny but the actual guard is the same as the face. It's still keeping good time, so all good so far. Will definitely be adding more to the collection from the trusted dealers. Cheers

Oh and she got the seller down from $200 US for it! There were lots of other cheaper Panerai options but all had really weak crown guard levers and were lighter.
