Ok, I need to add the Fiddy to my collection. The problem is everytime I think i find the perfect one it gets shot down. the last one I was looking at is davidsen's ultimate Fiddy. But, since the latest questions about the 082 and the lume i am not sure now. I know for sure I want the lume to be right on the fiddy or what would be the point of dropping 300.00. Comments please.

It seems to me that you will never get the perfect 127. All of them have differnt things wrong. I would suggest getting one with the least things wrong and have the rest modded out. You'll spend the money but by doing so will get you closer to the goal of "Ultimate" Or you could just buy the watch because you like it.

The Davidsen ultimate Fiddy is the top choice I think all the mods, sapphire, even swiss 6497 with the dagger swan neck! It's the one I think I'll go for.

Dawg, are you looking to go straight from the bubble wrap to your paw?

OR straight from the wrap and out for some mods first?

Depending on how picky you want to be, there are some good 'as is' reps available. TWP''s swiss is nice as is and of course if it's perfection you seek - Mr. D can get you close in his world. I guess it all depends on how close to perfection you seek.

I have Angus' fully upgraded Fiddy and I think it just awesome. Swanneck dagger, sorta super lumed, cannon pin fixed etc. The only thing it really needs is a Davidsen Sapphire. I don't think this the Puretime version is actual sapphire. I have score and scrathed in a couple places. I did however wack the edge of the crystal on the edge of a marble countertop and it didn't shatter. IMO this is the best out of the box. I even have a replacement Davidsen dial and I don't know if I'll change it because it looks identical.

It's the one with hybrid ETA 6497 mov't, unfortunatelly...the mov't itself is not worth much more than Asian rep 6497 - I know this because I "killed this horse to death", believe me :)

Also, the case is 0581/1950, at least it used to be on his 127, the 4 sides of the case are not finished well, and the whole case appears to be slightly larger due to that fact. Also as you stated it needs DSN sapphire to get close to that 'ultimate Fiddy' status...so hardly a 'good buy' in my books :)

Owned 5 Fiddys in the last 18 months, all sorts of possible cases/mov'ts/sapphire/dial/hands/CGs etc combinations imaginable - sold 4 left the one 'modded to death' - Eddie Lee's latest E-series mov't, Andrew's dial with bolder txt, Davidsen's the rest...there you have it :)

cheers,

So, babola, I've got to ask? What is left to look at? Unless one of the dealers does a 'special project' to give us everything in spec on a group buy, there's really no choice but to get one that has a few flaws and then mod away.

Correct to a tee!

Just as with everything else in life - get it while you can ! Good things don't last forever - so true with all things reps as well
