I'm no Pam expert, and I'm driving down the highway while looking at the pics, but they both look like swan-necks to me. The subdial is the seconds hand.
I don't get the price difference unless it is quality of the strap. If so, get the cheap one because you'll want a better/different one antway.
Good luck!

Thats what I thought. Ya a aftermarket strap is a def!

Do the second hands work like the gen or just faux?

Been eyeing his work for a while, he has a butter leater with white stitching that I want. The one with brown strap doesnt have "L swiss made" on the bottom as opposed to the black strap. I think the black strap is a 111 but I could be mistaken. So what would you all do go for the black or brown one now?

How impotant is the "L swiss made" below the 6? Is it a give-a-way or is it specific to each model? If so what model is the brown strap? Thanks!

I think it has a swan neck, just not listed. So my question is does it have one? Its 10 dollars cheaper and figured I would wear the tan strap more than the black until I replaced it.

Looks like needle (not dagger) Swan neck regulator on both. The $10 more expensive is said to have AR.

Also what is the purpose of the subdial? Is it fake? Do they move?

The second hand should most definitely be working, making a lap in a minute. If not you may have to use the regulator... :)

Man - asking the wrong person for details like that! Pam has too many models that look the same to me. I'm sure one model has "L Swiss Made" and another does not, but I couldn't tell you if one is better/more desireable/ a better copy than the other or not.
PM Pamfried with the links and ask his advice.
If you're looking for the BEST rep, e-mail Davidsen and ask pricing on a basic 111H. I know his Ultimate 111 is @ $430.

Ya just a little too much to spend for my first pam to see if I like it :)

What are you all's opinions though on mineral crytal? I have always had saphire on all my watches, so I dont know much about it. Just ok or steer clear?

The small hand is a functional second hand, as on all Panerais. It appears that both have a swan neck, but neither have a dagger. You get what you pay for. These are cheap. If you want something that is more close to gen, it will cost more. Not bad for the buck though.

of course the second hand works, why shouldnt it ?

both movements swan neck ( i doubt the swan neck adjuster works though, only for decoration )

asian ETA 6497 clone movement, they are reliable.

a nice replica Panny for the money. of course no modding..... only rep lume, propably less quality crystal, glued on OP font on the movement.

but hey....120 $ ......

a good way to get an idea how a Panny feels on the wrist.

When you say glued on. Do you mean that instead of it being engraved they are just stickers right? Also does anyone have a link to what the swan and dagger does? On the subdial does it sweep or tick? Just curious as I have never owned one. Thanks!

On the subdial does it sweep or tick
Actually, this is a very cool model in that it neither sweeps nor ticks. Every 60 seconds the small second hand makes one rather rapid 360 degree rotation. You have to keep watching to catch it, as it moves rather quickly.
OK - just kidding. This has a sweeping motion as opposed to 1 tick every second. I'm pretty sure this is a 21,600 bph movement, but given the very small hand and subdial, it will look almost seamlessly smooth.
The swan neck and dagger are different types of regulators and either would most likely be purely decorative at this price. I'm sure the Pamsperts here will be happy to go into more detail on the dagger and swan neck (sounds like a Chinese restaraunt menu item) functions.
This is a very good price for a starter Pam - to see if you like the look and feel. You will, however, be spending nearly this much on a nice strap to replace the stock rep strap.
If you're worried about it getting called out as a fake (no one can see the movement when it's on your wrist!), then get a different model with a solid case back. You're just not going to get anywhere near an accurate rep in this price range.
I will add that, based on personal experience, I was unsure about the Pams for a long time, being a Rolex guy and enjoying Omegas for the first time. But now I have 2 and really enjoy the look and weight of these watches. And they get noticed and commented on more than my more traditional watches. In other words, get one - you'll like it.
Good luck!

Thanks for the info. I have one of our dealers sourcing one and hopefully he can come through. I told him I wanted the SS band that way I have that and don't have to worry about the cheap leather one it comes with and just get a strap from tootall. I figured the swan and dagger would be a lot more and for an entry level pam I don't think the will be necessary to me as I just want to get the feel of them.
LM I am just like you coming from rolexs and omegas but I didn't even know what a pam was until I joined.
I know for an entry level I want saphire crystal but can any experts tell me what is a must have for a starter? Cg or thick crown? I know lume won't be that great buy hey its a starter pam :).

Dont buy one with mineral crystal, that is a lot of surface area that you will have to guard against scratches... not worth it.
$128 for a base asian with stuck on swan neck and mineral crystal ????? really ???? :?

Rep straps suck.. if you plan to wear it, source a decent strap...

The stainless steel bracelet is nice.. but plant to buy a strap too because the bracelet will get old after while.. especially considering that it feels like 10 pounds of steel on your wrist.

Thanks for the advice greg. I am just going to get one with the ss band and eventually get one of tootall's straps (I like the butter leater with white stitching). So at this price range with the regulators (swan neck) even do anything or just there for show?

They are for show,, just glued on .. but that is what I have been told.. I cannot say that I have ever taken one apart. I will go home and grab mine and check it out closely. Even a glued on one, if it pushes the regulator needle.. then it did it's job...

Again,, I'd be more concerned about sapphire crystal than a swan neck thing-a-ma-bob.. maybe you will find one with both.. ?
But again.. the sapphire is far more important.. and yes... the tootall or savage strap is a must!

Personally I'd go for the best rep you can get--Davidsen, judging by what I read here. Then if you don't like it, sell it to a member here for what you paid for it--juging by what I see in the sales area. I'm considering selling my Davidesen 056 Destro because I've decided I'm not crazy about the brown dial--but what a beautiful rep. it is. I'm assuming I can get my $400 back. In the meantime, I had a fab. rep with a Swiss 6497 on board. It kept perfect time and with the Savage strap, whoeeeee.......... You typically get what you pay for.

Coldi - I think that's a perfectly decent starter Pam. I completely agree with D4M on the sapphire being more important than any movement differentials.
I will say, though, that the stainless bracelet on a Pam just looks weird to me. I personally feel that the individuality and sense of personal style you get from a nice leather strap is a huge part of what makes Pams so appealing.
But... to each his own.
