1) Danjou--famous Foreign Legion hero who's fake hand (or real hand?) is a treasured relic of the Foreign Legion

2) Napoleon Bonaparte

3) Lafitte--the pirate who helped at battle of New Orleans

4) Charle de Gaulle

5) Marie Curie (OK not a soldier )

Anyway, the point is, it is an old joke guaranteed to piss off anyone French!
