I love the PRX, it's a great looking watch for a very fair price. But if Pagani Design shitters and Sugess are considered reps, or "homage watches" then so is everyone's favourite entry level swiss gem. Allow me to present exhibit A to the jury, the Tissot PRX blue dial. Quartz movement, around the £350-£400 mark new:

I love it. Sunburst dial, nice stick markers, the way the case angles down - AP style - to meet the angle of the bracelet is just perfect. The integrated links that start in the lugs and carry down into the bracelet. Lovely! 1970s retro styling at its best.

Now we come to exhibit B, the Rolex Oysterquartz, vintage 1978.

Well hello there stranger! I can't think of any reference from a quality Swiss manufacture being so brazen in its design rip off. Even Bulova would blush. Give it a cyclops and sell it to the TDs!

Welcome to watches...damn near everything is a copy, sometimes blatant.

The Submariner is more or less a copy of the BP FF, with some tweaks. The Daytona borrowed a lot of design elements from the Speedmaster, and Omega returned the favor with the Seasmaster dive watches. Tudor is a company that more or less copied Rolex, even though the two are owned by the same entity.

Tag Heuer's biggest sellers were damn near 1:1 copies of Submariners.

Of the watches sold today, probably 95% of them are "homages" of some iconic watch or another. The remaining 5% are "original" designs, but still borrow design elements frequently from other watches.

Hell, with very few exceptions, most watches sold today use the same MOVEMENTs...either an ETA or clone, a Seiko, or a Citizen movement.

That said, I've been dying to build an Oysterquartz, I might pick up a homage of the Tissot and see how far I get, thanks for pointing this out!

I 100 % agree with you this is an hommage watch, good style but it seems too " wannabe AP owner " ...

By the way this watches is extremely well built, good execution, very precise machining.

The original PRX was also introduced in 1978

the PRX dial into a AP royal oak case must be a good modding setup

I could imagine also that is somekind of cheap version of the Royal Oak, but all watchmakers in the end have similar models…

I own a PRX Powermatic Yg and I’m in love with it

this is so interesting... I thought this model was more of an AP "homage", before seeing how much more similar it looks to the oysterquartz...

not a huge fan of this one (especially for the price; pagani design has mecha-quartz chronos for about $50)
