The good folk at MUFF Watches kindly sent me a couple of their watches for review a little while back and here it is. Yes, a first AFIK, an authorised gen review on a rep forum! MUFF are a UK based company and the watch is China made with a quality Japanese (Miyota) Movement. The case is a solid stainless steel job unlike a lot of cheaper gens which tend to be plated pot metal. It has a screw down back and water resistant to 10ATM and features a unidirectional bezel with minute ticks and 120 clicks as per the dive watch standard. The finish is a very high polish, one of the shiniest I have seen. This is a big watch, the case is 44mm without the crown. We did a water resistance test and the watch passed with flying colours.

As you can see the dial is clear and easy to read with the date at 4 and large numerals. It does have some lume, nothing special but as good as anything in this price range. The straps are silicon rubber, not cheap PU and are soft, flexible and comfortable to wear. They have two keepers and are large enough for most any wrist. The buckle is branded and a good heavy Seiko style. As expected from Japanese quartz the accuracy is spot on. The watch has lost no appreciable time in the last two weeks.

The MUFF Diver comes in a wide range of colours and a chrono version is in the works along with a more dressy version with just a touch of bling. Below are some of the colour combos available.

Yes, that last one is a Brazilian MUFF :) The entire range of 10 can be seen here: http://www.muffwatches.com/

The watch comes packed in a presentation tin and carries a 12mth warranty.

All in all a nice work/beach/swim watch for the money (69 pounds) with the added bonus of being a talking point. These will make great beaters and should withstand rough treatment well and come with the Trailboss seal of approval. I have one to give away so stay tuned for the GAW thread.

Thanks to MUFF Watches UK for supplying the review and GAW pieces.

Meaning exactly what FP?
When was the last time you saw my pics? I don't have a decent camera. Had there been a substantial difference between the product I got in my hand and the pics I would not have used them. What you see is what I got mate and I don't appreciate you inferring anything else.

Is this for real? I'd rock one just for that branding on the dial hahahaha

I kinda fancy a Ginger (orange) but it needs a black strap IMO. The orange one is a bit much.

Amazon usually have them on sale, I'm very partial to a Brazilian, but think it's got to be a ToSs between a Blonde Muff or Pink Muff, lol.

Never seen them at Amazon but that place is so damn big you could miss a battleship let alone a watch.

Odd, I did a search for Muff diver watch and came up empty handed.
What is the UK site?

I've always liked the Muff Diver watches since I stumbled upon them last year. I really like the clean straight-forward design and think they are an excellent value. Tough, dependable, water tight, and cheap. It's a great combination.

HOWEVER - I seriously doubt my wife would approve of the name. She would find it crass and childish and "beneath" me. She certainly would not dictate I not wear the watch, but would undoubtedly roll her eyes in dismay whenever I put it on.

So I'll pass on this otherwise worthy watch

But KUDOS to Muff for their willingness to play in the world of reps.

Well then, let me explain.

I'm not inferring your doing anything shady. You drive the bus around here. What I am saying is let's just say member xyz, or even me for that matter, posted this exact same post with stock photos and not his own would garner skepticism from the community at large. Even you.

I know you don't take many pics. I can't remember seeing any in all the posts I've read.

Not trying to stir the pot here, just putting out my initial gut feelings on the matter, NO MATTER WHO POSTS.

You, the staff and mods, and a handful of other members here get a free pass with posts in readers minds. This was more highlighting THIS fact than anything else.

I knew writing my initial post you would "strike down with vengeance and fuuurious anger", I just didn't know it would be from a slightly defensive manner. ie. Bad camera.

I love you for keeping a tight reign around here, just doing my part to do the same. ;)

Ill consider this matter closed unless you need it opened up a little.

P.s. I would like to see some shots, wristies too, of this watch.

I don't get it FP, it's not a sales post, it's a mini review. The watch was submitted for review along with far better pics than I can take, why not use them? There is no comparison with a gen required, just illustration of what the thing looks like. Anyone else see an issue?

I was just going my previous post in my mind and do recall you posting some pictures of your property awhile back during the flood season.

And now I'm not sure why I decided to note that.........ahhh well, enjoy your day, I'm off to work.

Anyone else see an issue?

If anyone else felt the same reading the initial post, speak now or forever hold your peace. If I'm the only one.....relegate me to douchedom then. :biglaugh:

Sorry, Frig. I vote for douchedom on this one.
I've pointed out a couple of gens under a grand (Tissot Indy 500 was the last I think) in which I talked about trying on the watch and being very impressed, but not having bought the watch I used stock photos off the web.
If not selling the watch (where proof of ownership is very important) I see no reason to require in-hand pics. I'm with the Col on this one.
But you know I still love ya, Frig!

Oh FFS! Why the hell am I defending myself? If you must know, the only digital cameras I have are the crappy one in my Nokia 5500 and an Olympus that came off the ark. Neither will take a shot closer than three feet. I do all my real work in 35mm, not digital.

Here is a typical shot of my gen Longines from that digi camera:
IMG0042A.jpg

Now, take a guess why I used the stock pics supplied by MUFF? The idea here is to show the watch, not the limits of my shithouse photographic equipment. I have never nor will I ever have an issue with any pics being used in a review, I don't know where the idea came from that it is somehow wrong or frowned upon by admin. This is exactly why I don't do many reviews and TBH I don't think I'll be doing many more after this drubbing. I'll just go out back now and get on with keeping this place running shall I? Yes, I'm pissed off, well spotted!
