Even for people that are wealthy enough to be *serious* Panerai collectors, $2K for a used strap has to be tough to swallow, doesn't it?

One of us should buy it and put it on a rep

Silly money for a strap, but maybe thats just ignorance on my part.

I shall say it again, "It's not the fool that asks, but the fool that gives."

But, then again the asking price is crazy, considering it's already been damaged by the extra holes. If the seller is trying to "cash in" on the rarity and originality of this strap, why the hell would he add the extra holes?!?!?

He is trying to cash in on the rarity of the buckle. That buckle is a rare buckle, but not as rare as one would think. I have seen like 7 of them for sale this year already, and all under $1000. Average price of about $650. I highly doubt he will get the $2000 that he wants for it. The strap is just connected to the buckle. And he did ruin it by the extra holes.

The same could be said for paying $25K+ for a 201/A. If you've spent HUGE $$$ on an A/Pre-A neo-vintage PAM, what's $650+ for a period correct buckle?

Having said that, I have to admit I've been tempted to pull the trigger on a ~$9K PAM009 and ask for forgiveness from the wife, my 401K advisor, God himself, etc. afterwards.

I always believe everything has a price as long as someone is willing to pay for it....

How they arrived at that value is beyond me... :?
