David San,

The first picture has the right hands for a Pam 127 1950, but I am at a loss about the hands depicted on the next picture. Again, I don't know much about 1950's.

In any case, comparing other vendors, your hands (on the top picture) look too large. The hour hand should barely touch the hour maker, while yours is half-way on the marker. In yours, the minute hand is way past the markers, when it looks as if it should barely reach the end of them.

There is something about the font used on the dial, but I can't really say what it is...

I can't judge on the case, as there are not enough detailed shots of it. The only thing that catches my eye is the pin ont he crown guard looks unusually big and too close to the crown edge.

I hope this helps,

You have to give HUGE HUGE credit to David. He is the ONLY dealer that has the capabilty of making changes on his production models to suit our whims and critiques. SO if you see problems with his watches odds are he can make the changes you need and or want to your watch.

This is another example of a great first try and shows that, like his PVD's, he will improve upon them every step.

I think I will fo the SLAY route and get the engraved, swan neck, SWISS movement, from Sean and everything else from Dave to make a sweetass watch!

OK, before I get carved a new one for being a picky SOB, please note that the way I understand it David san is asking for feedback on this prototype. I didn't think he was asking for members to post about how he is the dog's balls...

The hands on the second photo are the exact ones on my 47MM 1940 Marina Militare.

Is the back crystal also sapphire? This seems to be an issue with some of the ones being sold by other dealers! If it is and you get a swan neck I wouldn't be picky about anything else! :D

courious,
some text would help too since I know davids dials don't come with ugly red circles I assume there is something wrong there?
The lume cutout needs to be opened up more?

The -|- cuts need to be more cut towards the inside. The diameter between the inner openings is too big. Notice that on the gen the little hand meets the openings at about the middle point of its length. David San's meet the openings past the center of the hand.

In short, the whole subdial needs to grow inward.

Im waiting for Master Enzo to give his opinion about this david...but yeah...why not a swan neck (maybe the working one) and spahire glass on the back..must be really great ....

looking forward for more improvement from all the comments in this post ....

hehe you guys who have been at this for a while would know by looking but us pam virgins need a little more info ;)

Judging from the gen pics it looks like only that outside lume hole needs to be opened up.
(hmm. an easy job with the dremel and a micro carbide bit....)

I agree with enzo on some Points. I hate the pointy lugged fiddy cases! A real saphire would be great as I have been through about 3 reps that were advertised as saphire and were not. My 6152 is my favorite watch I love the font size the smaller font size of the fiddy is too small for me. These things keep me flipping these even though I want a 47mm with a second hand. I too would like to see a plain see through case back and a non panerai marked dial also.

While I like the reps I'm not the biggest fan of branding but I doo love the panerai style so to me a sterile case back and dial would be my fantasy.

I'm not to impressed with the CN mvmnt as I have 2 that run for 3hours and then stop until I fiddle with the hands or give it a shake. Yet all the swiss (old brdge style)I have had run for a over a day or so and keep excellent time so to me a better running movement would be more to my taste than an xl cannon. So if it had a swiss swan neck I'd be more interested or just a plain swiss 6497 no markings except the swiss halmark.

Just today I had 2 people ask me about my 6152:
Is that a panerai and I really couldn't say yes and I couldn't say no cause it say it all over it so to me a sterile hommage
47mm is my fantasy.

I wish Davidsen could build watches on request as I'd pay a little more to get exactly what I wanted. Or I wish I was a little more skilled with watch repair and could build my own.

Agree wholeheartedly with Enzo. Constructive critique, and we'll end up with a great facsimile of the real deal. Also, the potential to model other PAMs.

I also have bought the 1950 Sapphire AR for my fav 1950; it's nice work and will enhance the piece. Each incremental improvement gives us the possibility to enjoy well modelled 1950s, 217s ....

Will be following the development path with interest.

I appreciate Dave's willingness and effort to make the "perfect" 1950. I think it speaks volumes about his focus on the opinions and wants of all of us who tend to be, at times, a little ;) hyper-critical.

I'd like Josh to post the "perfect" sub and have it opened up for critique and see who is closer to the gen?!?

Dave - nicely done..looks great!

Well my .02. The first picv of the dial alone and the dial are different. The first dial seems to be the same dial as the RXW MM20, only with the 1950 writing. The second dial seems to be an accurate copy of the fiddy. Here are some comparison pics of the gen 1950 and RXW MM20 side by side. Here you can see the differences that Enzo was talking about a little better.

Actually if you guys notice David San has changed the pictures. The second picture now displays a dial not suffering from the problems described previously. The subdial looks to be right on this one. Great looking watch.

seconds :(

if i never see another panerai with that second hand at 9 it will be too soon ! they all look similar and there are way too many versions of it
if i hadnt seen 200 pics of these i might have included ONE in a collection , but not now JMHO folks. enzo [and david san ] has the right take on the plain ones , :) What i really want is a destro gmt with enzos aged vintage dial and the gmt hand removed :)
fantasy watch ? sure as EVERY rep is . its not a gen no matter how close it looks so they are all fantasy in ur mind . ive got my flame proof suit on so fire away LOL
