The gen Serie Speciale had silver hands too, confirmed here

There are two Serie Speciale Fighters on sale on Ebay right now. One has silver chrono hands like the rep, even though it has a brushed case. Could this be a long lost genuine version, meaning our reps are correct? Or this guy could have dressed up one of Josh's super swiss versions with convincing paperwork and boxes. The other one for sale has the black hands that I have seen on every other gen. Very interesting.....

Both are legit.... individual pieces at last link before clasp.... no rep has had this... and believe me, I wish they did.... it's the only reason I don't really wear my Navi.... i'm toooooo anal...

Could you explain what you mean on this. I have been looking into this watch and would love to know all the flaws (besides brushed case, dial font).. Thanks

Look at the links on a Navi... they are actually individual pieces held by a pin.... the rep and gen are like this for the bracelet up until the last link before the clasp... on the gen, the last link is 7 individual pieces held by the pins, but the inside pieces are shorter than the normal link... on the rep, it's all just one big piece.... most would say it's nitpicking.... if you have a small wrist you can hide that link within the clasp... but it's how I always spot a repped Navi....

Yup, both are genuine.

Other clues:

to the gen dial are that the scale rule text (on the dial) reflect light. The reps use just silver paint.

to the gen slide rule is obviously the crisp printing, and it fills the pearl coloured background. The reps don't fill it.

Genuine Old Navitimers had an option of blued register hands. IMHO, it makes a better contrast with the sub dial. Obviously you'd want silver hands for a white dial (& dark sub dial) Serie Speciale.

Both are gen for sure. Just look at th date font, the end links, crisp and aligned slide rule... Very nice.

bump......I still see alot of people thinking they have to get the Serie Speciale hands painted when both colors seem to be correct to the gen. Where is the original citation for the hands being wrong? I would like to see it corrected. Like I said I think it is a matter of personal choice now and people shouldn't think their silver hands are "wrong".

In my Breitling catalogue the Serie Speciale clearly has silver hands. Obviously at some point they were black, as we have photographic evidence, so both versions are correct
