Hi Friends,
It is truly the end of an era for me, for close to 10 years and over 400 builds; I have been modding the 127. As of a couple of months back, the factories have discontinued the production without warning. I guess the makers calculated that with all the time since it's introduction, and all the new models that have hit the market, the 127 has fallen out of favor, and sales have dwindled.
The 127 was the watch that introduced me to the rep world, and inspired me to mod the 6497 movement. Since my first 127 from Davidsen back in 2007, I instantly fell in love with the clean and simplistic look of the 127. The factories have come a long way from those first Eddy Lee 127’s to the latest versions put out before the end of production. The quality was very tight, and even for a rep. the movements ran strong and true, rivaling that of the gen movement. In all this time, and with the large volume of builds I have done, I have received back less than what I can count on both hands, due to movement failure. An impressive stat for any gen, let alone a rep.! I’ll be building out my last stock 127 after the holidays, then no more factory fresh builds, only used, or customer upgrades will be available. Maybe the makers will bring it back, but like most of the other 6497 movement watches of the past probably unlikely. With that, I bid farewell to a good friend.
Hope those of you who own one will cherish it as I have with my own
Here is the last one waiting to be modded and sent out to it's owner after the holidays
Just a couple of pictures of one I just completed couple of weeks ago
