The Better Rep PAM 312 v PAM 320

So I want to pull the trigger on either the PAM 312 or PAM 320.

Both appeal to me, but wanted to know which is the better rep out of the box in terms of lume and AR quality.

The hands on the PAM 320 seem to be brighter silver which I prefer over the dark hands on the 312. The PAM 312 appears less cluttered.

Any suggestions much appreciated.

The PAM312 and the PAM320 both have the same silver hands. The only difference between the two is the GMT function on the PAM320 which does not work as per gen. I've owned the PAM312 V1 and I should say it glowed like a torch. AR is present but not that good. The current V2 of the PAM320/312 do not mention AR on the spec sheet but as the AR on the V1 wasn't that good anyway, I would guess it is still the same quality. V1 -> V2 change would be form A7750 to the Seagull25 / 35 for the 312 and 320 respectively.

All it boils down to is whether you are interested in the GMT function on the PAM320 although as I mentioned, does not work as per gen which moves once in 24 hours compared to once every 12 hours for the rep, which actually is a better implementation for some. :) They are both the same spec, released the same time and both at V2 upgrade (same time as well).

Fantastic breakdown mysterio.

Wasn't aware they share the same hands. For some reason, the hands look brighter on some of the PAM 320 photos.

Hopefully won't need an AR job.

So is the Seagull35 a more reliable movement than the 7750?

Thanks for clarifying.

I have no movement expertise so I really can't comment whether the Seagull is better than the A7750. Seeing the caseback pics, I don't even see the difference between the two. Maybe someone who's familiar can chime in. :)

Mysterio ,

Could you please help here?
You confused me big time.

You mention ''Seagull25 / 35 for the 312 and 320 respectively''
seagull update on 312/320 but my 441, which is the same like 320, has probably the 7750...

Moreover, you mention that in gen 9001 in 320 & 441 the GMT HAND rotates in 24h basis, whether rep rotates 12h.

Actually the contrary exists.

The Gen rotates on 12h basis and the Rep on 24h

Please verify....

You are correct in the GMT function. As the PAM320 uses an Asian7750 movement, the GMT uses the day wheel to advance, so it's a 24 hour. The gen PAM320 has a 12 hour cycle. I misread the information in ALE's excellent guide (I referred to it because I don't own any GMT PAM).

As for the versions/movements, I hope this is clearer.
PAM312 V1 [Seagull 25] --> PAM312 V2 [A7750] --> PAM312 O series [P9000]
PAM320 V1 [Seagull 35] --> PAM320 V2 [A7750] --> PAM320 O series [P9000]

You are confused because you are reading information that was posted prior to the new PAM320 release (thread is in March, new watch released in May). Sometimes it helps to put the thread in the right time frame. ;) I apologize for "confusing you bigtime". :D

Yeah man,

Now its clear, didnt know all this stuff.
I guess you mean

"PAM312 V1 [Seagull 25] --> PAM312 V2 [A7750] --> PAM312 O series [P9000]"

The O series with the 9000 decoration has 7750 the 7750 movement?

Yes, the P9000 in the latest O series PAM312 rep is an A7750 movement with the decorative plates to look like a P9000.

I still dont get why they replaced the reliable seagull with the 7750?

I thought that they went from 7750 to seagull...

How come the 505 & 388 have the seagull and 312 has the 7750?

Seagull movements come from an independent maker and A7750 come form usual replica movements makers.
We cannot know what are the agreements and opportunities in this closed market.

Regarding why last productions of 505 and 388 have Seagul instead of 7750 maybe is for questions of thickness and accuracy being balance wheel of Seagull @6 closer to @7 of the gen
But I repeat we cannot know the inner movements of such a clesed market.
