Hi guys new to the forum, own a few genuine rolex’s but wanting a rep rm, looking for the best available had a look through the forum and it seems the ZF factory make the best, originally wanted the white ceramic bubba watson however seen the rm 035 x ABD on in time that seems to look great. Does anyone own this or can anyone tell me if that is the best available at the min? Thanks

Hi. Intend to agree that ZF makes the best overall in terms of overall look (in real life).

Personally, I would just get the ZF and dont bother researching much more.

It’s a supposedly 250k watch so it Probably doesn’t matter what the academic gen vs rep differences are, so long as it looks pretty and feels good, anything else is irrelevant imo....as a buyer, I just don’t see what there is to gain from studying gen vs rep pics. No one I know, including myself, had the time of inclination to study the differences...this is the key to enjoying the hobby for me

Just my opinion anyway.

Get the rm001 or 027 or 56. I would bother with the rm 55 or the 35 no matter what the people on this forum may have you believe. The models I mentioned are slightly more pricey but are much better value for money. They are all Tourbillon watches and are beautifully made and finished. This is a stark contrast to the crappy 35/55 which is just a crappy movement with fake gears glued on top. Don’t waste your money and and spend abit more but get so much more watch in the meantime. I wouldn’t bother too much with the other modes unless you’re an avid fan of the rm11, those are semi decent. If you wish to get a 35/55 get a shitter from DHgate, they look basically the same. Just my 2cents.

Lol here we go again with the tourbs.

There are several good RMs depending on what you want and what you value in a watch. If it's 1:1 exactness, you're in the wrong brand as everything has relatively obvious flaws, from case size to movements to materials, etc.

ZF makes the most accurate cases, gen sized with pretty close to gen materials, but the movements are simpler (however absolutely not just gears glued down, homie loves saying this but I don't know why) and not as skeletonized as the gen. Their 035s are sold out, and the 055s are hella nice and brand new. I have one shipping now.

RM011s are too thick and generally have 7750s which can be awesome or trash depending on your luck. The KVF ones have the best deco but they're 18mm thick which is ginormous, and size really makes these watches fit as well as they do.

The tourbillon models (001, 027, 056) are very nice, however they're extremely expensive ($1k-1200) for a rep, probably very difficult if not impossible to service, and are in gigantic cases that are far, far bigger than the gen (like 4mm). The 001 was the nicest of them (we'll see how the EUR 056 holds up long term) but I don't believe you can get them from JF anymore.

So it depends on what you value in a watch and what you like about RMs, because there are tradeoffs for every model

I would have to agree with most of what you said. I almost got the rm35 ZF V3 because I love the carbon fiber (I like different materials), but at the end of the day, it does not matter how perfect it looks, and if the balance gem is red or clear. If you get a skeleton watch, and can't see anything except the second hand move, it is pretty obvious it is not real (might as well make it a quartz at that point). But the RM001 is amazing. I might spring for one of them sometime. I might still get a ZF RM35, but not v3, because it really does not make much difference (to me). It would still be an automatic and carbon fiber (and still well constructed and good materials). And this is not a slam to anyone, just my opinion.

In terms of overall quality, you really need to see the ZF in person. Everything from the case shape and proportions, the finishing, to the quality of the rubber strap, it just feels like a high quality watch. Especially on the titanium RM52, the satin titanium with the polished bevels just looks amazing. At the end of day it's really down to what you look for in a rep RM. If case shape, size, and proportions is what you look for, then definitely go for a ZF. If the movement is more important to you, then you'll have to look for something else.

On the ZF watches, do the gears move at all? I understand that they don’t move like gen (understandably so) but are they all just for decoration or do some of the big ones in the back move?

JonathanLing91 I believe they move. In the video on Trusty's site there's a short sequence of them setting the hands and all three wheels did in fact move. The balance wheel does not, but I believe the three you circled do move.
