...so, the other day I was in one of those dark-alleys store, and I've seen this watch, sporting "panerai" logo all over.
It's been a while since I started to think about a replica collection, but being a noob at this world, I have obviously made my first mistake!
I bought the watch, actually liking it, then after a couple of days of research I've found out that this is nothin like a PANERAI, doesn't even come close to any model ever made by the manufacturer... well I'm not that mad, one has to start somewhere, right?
I just thought that maybe some of you guys can give me some more info/opinion on this -I'm sure now it is- fantasy watch.
I'll include some nasty pics for yr viewing pleasure - please be nice, I'm new to this!

OK this one is pretty bad, BUT, almost no one knows what a Panerai is, or what a Tourbillion is or what it is supposed to look like. So if you like it, you should wear it and enjoy it. As you become more informed on the watches that are available, you are going to find that sometimes your tastes in watches will change over time. Hey, wear it well!

Ah, the super rare open heart, moon phase Luminor Marina! A truly magnificent find! I think Christie's sold the last one for $150K. You should snag it, if you can.

Gotta love Canal St. reps, don't ya?

thanks guys for the comments, you've been nicer than I'd expect! :D
I'll keep this jewel in my safe box, as a reminder of the times when I was ignorant, but happy! :)
Let's hope things will go better from now on!

@Hooligan, I actually found this pretty piece during my last holiday in Kos... need to work on my watch-shopping skills, I know....

How much did you give for it, raoul?

Depending on how much it was, it might be worth it for the novelty/fun factor...

If it makes you feel any better, the first rep I ever bought was a "Gucci" for my wife on the streets of New York. (Just to clarify-- I bought the watch on the streets of New York, not my wife). Well, it's a watch, it's made of some kind of metal, and it's got the word "Gucci" on it, but that's about the only similarity between any real Gucci and her rep. But the funny thing is that it's still one of her favorite watches, and it's still going strong (I should mention it's a quartz, of course).

ehh... well.. you are correct, you have to start somewhere..

This is not a bad thing , once you order a nicer quality one from one of the local dealers, you will appreciate how detailed and how much quality has come to our replicas in the last 10 years.

I give you an A for your efforts and throwing this post out there even in the fear of some really HIGH POWERED flaming that this watch probably deserves.. lol..

You are going to be all right ... once you get a nice quality piece on your wrist.

:) keep collecting!

It is a place to start, and a place to run from quickly to the next deal and forget it ever happened! Funny thing is someoen showed me this same fantasy watch that was given to him, and a jewler in LA told him it was Panerais newest release and how lucky he was to get it. I had to burst his bubble though as it would happen sooner or later, and now he has lost all interest in watches. Go figure.

50 Euro isn't too bad.

It's worth it just to have that thing to bring to the next EU meet and have some laughs about it. I know if you came to a GTG in the States, I'd buy you a beer just for having the balls to admit you bought it.

No worries!
