*Before continuing to read please forgive my "verboseness" but I wanted to be very thorough
in my "review". The following review does not take the accuracy of the rep into account as I do not know how accurate it is in relation to the gen. This is only my personal experience regarding the
water resistance and timekeeping of my watch.* Now back to the review in progress.........
Tested the water resistance of my V6F factory PAM 587Q.......and this bad boy survived with flying colors.
First of all, I understand that you should always have the WR of a replica checked out by a watchsmith prior to dunking it in water or taking it swimming. However, I bought my PAM 587Q for a really sweet low price from Toro Bravo so I figured I had a 50/50 shot of either completely ruining it or it surviving. And if it didn't survive, I wouldn't be out of that much cash so I figured what the heck.
Anywhoo......I went swimming with the watch 3 weekends ago and it passed my initial 1' deep underwater test by surviving for 5 minutes without any bubbles or leaks into the case. Long story short over the past few weekends I ended up swimming with it for about 12 hours total. Of the 12 hours, 3 consecutive hours of that time period it sat at the bottom of a 10' deep pool "for further testing" and the remaining 9 or so hours it was on my wrist whilst swimming and / or diving to the bottom of said deep end of the pool.
This is likely an anomaly when it comes to reps but I'll say that I'm very surprised but also very ecstatic that it passed my WR testing. I'll never take it scuba diving or anything like that so the results are good enough for me. I have never opened the caseback lube the o-ring or do any other type of WR work on it prior to getting in the water with it. This was me taking it straight out of the packaging and going swimming with it.
Also, in regards to power reserve / timekeeping.......I've tested the PR a couple of times thus far and it's pretty much 56 hours and some change. It keeps pretty awesome time too. I set the watch to atomic time from the time.gov website and it appears to not deviate more than maybe 5 to 10 seconds over the course of a week from atomic time. Obviously this is just a guesstimate on my part because there are no second hands on the PAM but observing the alignment of the pointed tip of the minute hand in relation to the center of the 5 minutes marks (not including 3, 6, 9 or 12) on the dial versus the time on the atomic clock I'd say that my guesstimate is pretty accurate. Also, I assume that the watch came directly from the V6F factory where the TD got it and then he shipped it directly to me.
All in all I'll say I'm pretty stoked about this watch and the lack of money that I paid for it.
I've gotten a handful of comments on how simple yet beautiful it is from some "watch guys"
that have never heard of Panerai. I've not worn any of my other watches more than maybe
2 or 3 days over the month or so since I added to my collection.
I just thought you guys would find this bit of info interesting. Any comments or questions would be
appreciated.
Anyway, obligatory wristshot pic below.........................
