I have done this mod on my PAM036 and now another time on my PAM Carbon Fibre. As you can see... This is not the watch that I babysit. I abuse it :)

Anyway, the dial and hands have been relumed a couple of years ago and now time to change or upgrade the movement with genuine ETA6497-2 parts. You can see the shine of centre wheel and the balance wheel. No rep/Chinese parts can achieve this. Anyway, I use the more expensive Glucydur balance wheel.

That is shiny :cool2:

Have you ever tried to put an Incabloc shock assembly, into one of these movements, or to replace the usual Swiss Novodiac?

Drulee, you need to remove the whole balance wheel assembly in order to do that. Fortunately, my Swiss ETA6497-1 already has the Incabloc. No need to replace.

Are my eyes deceiving me, or are those Cotes de Geneves engravings under that shock assembly "PANERAI" engraved plate? :)

I have a couple of DSNs with Swiss movements (at least I paid for them as such and have no cause to doubt it). I very much like the blued screws in yours. Is it possible to get a kit or something whereby I could substitute my non-blued ones for the blued ones? Can you please explain what Drulee spotted about the Cotes de Geneve. I don't know what that is.

I used to stock up on these blue screws but unfortunately I have run out. I thought DSN uses the blued screws too?

Cotes de Geneve is the engraving under the fine adjuster, on top of the balance wheel assembly.

I have two DSNs with supposedly genuine 6497 Swiss movements. The one with the swan neck has the blued screws, the other, with the dagger adjustment has regular screws. Incidentally, should the Gen. ETA have that Cotes de Geneve engraving? Since mine has a surface that just looks like flat steel, could that indicate that I do not, in fact have a gen ETA or is the Cotes just something extra special?

The Cotes de Geneves is the engraving that Panerai puts on its movements from series "H" on. A genuine ETA will have the flat undecorated plates, which DSN would add engraved plates onto, or replace its bridges. He may also change the screws, or do some other modifications. At least he used to, but I don't think he bothers anymore, and just buys the movements already finished with the appropriate decorative plates.

Next time I buy a DSN I'll get him to throw in the blued screws then. I'm sorta hankering for an ultimate Fiddy but still have my doubt about my wrist's capacity to carry it off.

If you can get him to do that, I'd love to know how you managed it. It took me ages to get it across to him that my "shiny purple" 228 dial did not just look that way in certain pictures, and was not actually blue. Then after finally persuading him to send a replacement blue dial, which another member successful received from him days before, I end up getting another "shiny purple" replacement dial in the mail  I've learned that keeping it simple works best.

Oh yes..... and even when it is simple it is complicated...... I believe that's what is supposed to be part of the fun of this hobby
