Is it just me or has anyone alse notcied that the second hand doesn't sit correctly on some models.
This is particularly the case with quartz watches, particularly those with chrono function. They all seem to sit at 1 second past 12.
Even when you pull out the stem to reset it manually it still finishes at 1 second past 12.
Why is this do you think? Just slackness in the factory? Can it be perfectly realigned by a watchmaker?
cheers

1. Yes, second hands can be realigned by a watch maker on quartz or automatic models. Its a very simple procedure.

2. On quartz models, where the chrono second hand resets to can be adjusted using the pushers. I think you hold one pusher and press the other. I'm not sure about the exact method, but I'm sure someone who knows will chime in soon.

Here is a link I found that explains a possible method to zero the chrono hands on quartz models: http://mb.nawcc.org/showthread.php?t=48731

Yes was aware of that method. However if the second is 1 second past 12 to begin with that's as close as it will reset to.
Anyway I will take it in to my special man who can work his magic.

Just a matter of taking off the hands and repositioning them. But as you said, you're better off brining it to someone who knows what he's doing

747, I have a Grand Carrera 36 that does the same thing. The fix to which dusty is referring doesn't work for mine, either.

If you were in CONUS, I'd recommend sending your watch to katt (Gary), a trusty watch-fixer-upper; but I'm pretty sure any qualified jeweler in the land of Oz could probably fix it for you relatively inexpensively.

Good Luck!

My Gen Formula one is like this as well, the second hand is in between the actual markers.

Somewhere around $650ish new off the gray market.. Have had several problems with this watch, almost liked my first version I had better (the replica!)
