Tag Monaco - Yes I know but .....

I have been asked by a mate which Tag Monaco rep is the most accurate - I did a search and hunted around ebay etc. for a while and there seem to be a LOT of different gen models available ...

I really know very little about this model (and most others to be honest) but Noel (my pal) has been very good to me and I'd love to help him locate a decent rep if possible, so if any Monaco aficionados wouldn't mind pointing me in the right direction I'd appreciate it.

I saw an old thread about issues around the sub dial positions etc. and while that would be a factor, aren't there a bunch of Monacos that don't have any sub dials? He is an old film buff so this request might be driven by the Steve McQueen version, but I think he'd probably be happy with any of of several models. I am awaiting a call back from him to confirm or correct, as he didn't mention that particular model in his email.

Thanks for any guidance.

There are Monacos that aren't chronos, and I've seen old reps of those, but they're not very good. The newer concept Monacos are the most accurate, but that's not saying much. Some of those styles are an acquired taste. If you're looking for the older classic Monacos better to get a gen for now. Sorry.

Have been doing a bit of searching and researching .... pretty interesting history - and something I didn't know (the general tonnage of what I don't know is quite impressive)
... Steve's original was a Heuer - i.e. not "tag..."

According to PureTime, the trend for rep watchmakers has been moving away from rectangular watches and small watches.
the reason is obvious; they don't sell as well.

Hopefully the trend moves back though; as much as I enjoy 45mm Pams, I don't want those to be the only accurate reps.
