Tag Grand Carrera 17 Reliability

I read some alarming posts concerning the Tag GC 17 rep's movement problems. Specifically, some posters noted that the second hand stopped. Another poster (from another site) stated the crystal spontaneously popped off of a $400 GC rep!

I am very much considering purchasing this rep from an AD. I don't plan on ever using the chrono features. Have the dealers successfully addressed the mechanical flaws? If not, are there many owners who have experienced no problems with this model? I'm try to ascertain the odds of spending $300+ on a rep, only to have it poop out shortly.

I have a GC 17 and it was my first ever rep. Its got the A7750 movement and I havent had a single problem with it at all. I even calibrated it to +4sec a day.

Recently though I find it hard to change the date, it keeps slipping, but the date changes fine when I move the hour hands so not a big problem.

If i serviced it I think it would run like a dream. Its a very good rep, very close to gen which I have compared side by side except the recessed date wheel but even the gens datewheel is kind off recessed.

It runs as smooth as my Gen Tag Grand Carrera Calibre 8.
