Tag Carrera rubber strap won't buckle

I just recieved a Carrera Tachy Chrono from MReplica and got a Tag replica rubber strap to go with it. It buckles fine when the rubber strap is not inserted, however the deployment buckle will not stay buckled whilst the rubber strap is inserted (as you would when you wear it). Is there a trick to this? Is this a common problem with the rep straps?

Thanks!

The Tag deployment buckles of late are some of the best finish I have seen. Do you have it installed properly?

Yes, it's exactly as you have in your picture. I agree that it's a beautiful piece...it just won't stay buckled with the rubber inserted in the buckle (it works fine w/o the rubber in there). I have more rubber through the opening though, as I have smaller wrists, but that shouldn't cause it to not work.

Even with it off the watch, and squeezing really hard, no luck.

Suggestions?

Make sure both parts are formed correctly. These grooves.

i also believe there are lateral grooves in the strap on the inside that the buckle needs to line up with before you snap down the buckle part when sizing the strap. if you don't have the strap lined up with these slots i think you can still snap it down but will experience not being able to actually close the whole deployant like you are describing. sorry for no pics but i gave a similar watch to my son and had almost convinced myself the whole deployant/buckle was bunged too as i could not get it to close properly either until i discovered how to size it right.
