I have recently been interested in the Carrera chrono (black face w/ rubber strap version) and wanted to get other owners feedback on the overall quality of these rep watches. I really like the look but how is the weight and "feel" of the watch? I have been happy with previous Omega/Rolex/Panny purchases but have never worn a Tag.

If you are looking at the A7750 version,... The overall build quality is great. Dial is crisp, and the weight and feel is just like gen.
Only drawback is the strap, it's a little stiff and scuffs easily. It'll show signs of wear a lot more then gen rubber.
But you can always order a replacement strap for 50 bucks or invest in a gen rubber strap if you truly want a great watch.

I had one and loved it. Go for it.

Great, thanks for the feedback. Is the SS bracelet on the rep quality? I might go with the SS and then find an after market rubber strap.

I ordered the 7750 from Puretime and ordered both straps. He only sent the rubber strap and the SS is on the way. I am very happy with it, I haven't compared it to the Gen but the dials, movement, even the strap are convincing. The only giveaway with the strap is that the holes are a bit sloppy. You can't tell when the watch is on though. Here are some pics

I'm really happy with the purchase.

Thanks for sharing the pics. I will need to ask Joshua about ordering both the SS and rubber band. Do you happen to have any wrist shots to get a feel of the overall size?

I purchased a Carrera Racing SS. The quality of the watch was very good. The only problem with mine was the time reserve was very weak (about 2 hours), but it was repaired. Also, the rep I received had blue screws, whereas the gen had silver. Other than that it was great. The SS band was sort of a disappointment, because it felt very flimsy, I've never held a gen so I don't know if it is supposed to feel like that.

Do any of the Carrera reps come with a quartz movement?

The rep rubber strap is not as soft as the gen ones, and it makes a bulging eclipse, instead of hugging wrists.

I did not like the rep Tag rubber at all.

Wow, I have the rep Tag rubber and it's one of the only rubber straps I can tolerate because it does make that "bulging ellipse." I love the way the rubber doesn't touch the top half of your wrist. I just assumed the gen was the same way due to the way the strap is attached to the case. I'd probably hate the gen rubber strap.

I just purchased a SS bracelet for mine from Watch Eden. As one poster above states, it does feel rather flimsy. The rubber strap seems to be of superb quality compared to the bracelet. I especially don't like the way the bracelet's end links don't really mate with the case well - there's a bit of play in the end links.

Does anyone know if all of the rep Carrera bracelets like that, or are there possibly two factories making them, hence the poor fit on my rep???

If the rep version is flimsy, would a high quality aftermarket SS bracelet look good on the Carrera like maybe the Sub style one?

Any recommendation on which dealer to purchase from these days?
I'm mainly interested in Tag Carrera Chrono Tachymeter, preferably the one with a red hand.

Also I'd like one that does not have blue screws, as these are too easy to spot when the watch is off your wrist.

I own one with ss bracelet. Totally love it. As a replica is very very close to the gen. Now I'm looking for the Carrera DayDate (43mm) that it's even nicer, at least for me.

Where would you recommend for that model?
Does it have the non-blue screws in the back?

I bought it form a fellow member of the list.

I'm not wearing it now and I don't remeber the color of the screws. Let me take some pictures and post them later.

I've compared mine with the gen in an AD and the main differences are the spacing between 12 and 6 subdials with the hour markers and the lume.

Regards,
