Has anyone come across a puretime version of this watch? Am curious to know the forum's thoughts on the value of the Swiss 7750 version of this rep vs. the asian 7750 rep version of this watch. Are the basics of this replica good enough to put a swiss 7750 in it. are there worries over the band, the dial and the date in this version? Or does the swiss 7750 correct most of this.

any thoughts would be great as I am considering purchase. By the way, puretime watch has been extremely responsive. So far so good!

The general conscensus at the moment is that the graphite dialled BCE is one of, if not the best Breitling rep out there. I personally think that with the updated datewheel, the V3 version, that currently it's the best rep out there, period. The main tells are that the minute indices at the 3, 6, 9, 12 positions should be a hair shorter, the crown is not as well detailed (you can hardly notice) and some say the bezel indices can be slightly out of centre on the rider tabs. Also the depth of the markers on the bezel have been said to be too shallow by some on the V3 version. On my V3 the rider tabs and markers look spot on to me. You could source a gen dial if you wanted to and some claim to have fitted a gen bezel. I, however don't think it necessary as the rep is really, really close. With regard to the ETA 7750 version. Obviously the movement will be of a much higher quality but for me the Asian version has been bulletproof to date. I'd save my money and go for the A7750 and spend what you save on another watch... :)

Sconehead,,,,

thanks for the quick reply.....interesting thoughts on the bezel and the dail...I wonder if puretime drop ships or if he could give the dial a once over before it goes out.

eitherway, am glad to hear that the version in general is a very accurate rep. I am curious to see what else is said on this topic!

Thanks,

To be honest I'd just go with the A7750 and you'll save quite a bit of money over the cost of the swiss 7750 version. If you are worried about the reliablity of the A7750 just send it out to get serviced from the get go. At one point there were several swiss 7750 swaps that I wanted to do but over time for the most part I've decided not to do them. About the only thing in my collection that I probably will swap a swiss 7750 into is my old school Chrono Avenger.

That watch from Ruby is beautiful! What is the forums thought on the leather bracelet? I have heard much about the SS bracelet just not cutting it.

On this watch the bracelet is fine. Rep leather doesn't really compare to gen though...

Are you buying a gen??? $1050 for a REP WATCH???
Dude, seriously... there has been much discussion on the forum lately about whether or not you will even get an actual ETA Swiss movement when you pay for one because A) the actual ETAs are getting harder to come by, and B) the clones are getting really, really good.
Check out this thread:

I'm no Breitling expert, but I'd have to vote for the Asian movement. $1050 for a rep? Seriously???

I have to agree with levelmanroger. $1050 is crazy...
A nice serviced a 7750 by fakey would work just as nice and you can take the savings and buy something else.

I do not agree, I think it all depends on the money you have and if this is a real keeper for you. I have several watches which run with ETA 7750, most of them have a swapped movement. All of these watches are keepers.

If you can afford it and it is your dream watch, why not? If you need to save every cent, then buy the A7750.

i can buy a brand new gen evo for 4,000.00. why in the world would i give 1050.00 for a rep with a so called swiss eta in it? it is still going to need servicing and it is still going to be a rep. that price is just stupid.

Hk is correct! I have owned the A7750 graghite chrono for over a year now. I wear it 3 to 4 days a week and it works great, and looks great! If I were going to spend that kind of money for a rep, I would seriously consider putting the investment in a new or pre-owned gen.

but for 4k you can get 4 nice reps with ETA, you can get service almost from any watchsmith (not AD) and in my opinion nobody will see the flaws which are on the reps. I used to own 2 RLX , I sold them and I have a lot of good qual reps with Val7750! Am i happy? Yes! Instead of 2 RLX I have now 10 cronos with Eta movement and I am sure, nobody will see the difference.
Just look at all our PAM freaks, they are putting a lot of money in with all the modding.
As I said before, it all depends on the money. If you are a student and you only have $200 budget for the year then ypu could buy 2 cheap watches with fake cronos or one with A7750!
If you have 10k you can buy 2 good gens or 10 excellent reps! I went for the 10 watches and I am still happy! I must say, I have a watchsmith and he will do the service!

yes, i understand what you are saying but my gen z series gmt2c cost me 5,850.00 and now costs 7,600.00 with tax. i can easily sell mine for 6,500.00. i paid 5,740.00 for my wife's z series platinum yacht master and it is now 8,100.00 with tax, i can sell it for 7,000.00. the reps are still reps and are only worth what somebody in our community will pay, you won't see many used reps go for 1,000.00. obviously it is your money and we all have our limit on what we will pay, mine is 350.00 for a rep and it has to be very good for that amount.

Pardon me for jumping in but it's late and I'm bored and replying to just about every post on here right now.

I personally agree that if you're starting to get way up there in price for a rep and are approaching the gen price (approx 30%) IMO then I would save for the gen. However for people who would rather have quantity rather than quality then the way to go is with the reps. It' s just a matter of personal preference and circumstance.

I own 2 BCE's:
1 with a Asian 7750
1 with a Swiss 7750 (genuine movement not bought from China, done after the fact as a mod)

Overall there is no cosmetic difference.
The differences lie in the watch's function/performance only and there is nothing wrong with the Asian's performance inmy experience.

Time reserve much different, Asian lasts about 1/2 as long as the Swiss when not worn, Asian version crown and stem action is not nearly as smooth, the date change at Midnight is not the same, often have to adjust the date via crown to get the Asian version lined up perfect in the window-though I am anal about the dates lining up.
Is that worth $700 more no way.
Is it worth $300 more, maybe depends how much you like the watch.

I would get the watch with the Asian and if you love it and want to improve the performance and feel of the functional parts, swap to a Swiss later.

I would rates mods to a BCE in the following order (1 of my 2 has everyone of them, except for #7)
I am not saying these are worth the money, just listing the value of the mod on this watch basedon visual differences primarily.
IMO the top 4 are worth , the last 3 probably a waste of money. Shows you what I think of the Swiss 7750 upgrade I think.

1.) Datewheel (v3 has perfect datewheel other versions need aftermarket datewheel)
2.) AR (newer versions have better AR but still not perfect, Chieftang double AR is the answer)
3a.) Relume the dial and hands - not only for luminisance but also so the color matches. Many reps come with mismatched color on hands vs. color on dial markers when not lit up, this is not a good thing.
3b.) Gen Dial -eliminates need for relume of dial of course, half tick issue solved and in general a shaper appearance.
4.) Gen croc strap or a gen bracelet (croc strapmy preference and much less expensive and easier to source)
5.) Gen Bezel -new v3 the 30 tick is off center, not too big a deal but gen bezel is better overall.
6.) Swap movement to Swiss 7750
7.) Gen Hands - not really needed and this is the last possible mod and not one I will likely do.

Cheers,
M
