Hi folks!
Received an AP ROO Diver JF V7 today (thanks Ryan
!) and swapped the crystal to a 2x AR crystal from rnrprof!
I thought it would be nice to write a tutorial about how to swap the crystal, so I made some pictures of the process.
The result:
How I received the watch:
The crystals (left: 2x AR, right: original):
Now it's time to start the modification!
Remove the screw-nuts of the back-case:
When all screw-nuts are removed, it should look like this:
Now you should be able to take off the back-case. Remove all the tiny nuts that are screwed over the screws.
I did it with a strong, small tweezer. I putted both sides in the holes of the screw and turned it around:
When all screws are removed, it should look like this:
Left the case carefully and (almost) all screws will come out:
Now you should have something like this:
Remove the front-case with crystal:
Now place the front-case in the watch crystal press like this:
Push the crystal press down and it should pop out easily:
Change the die of the crystal press to a bigger size so you can't push the crystal too far.
Now take the new crystal and place it in the middle of the front-case:
The result:
Now it's time to put everything together.
Use some silicone grease and lubricate the pieces to make the watch more water resitance:
When you finish the cases, lubricate the screws with grease including the small rubbers:
Then put the screws back in place:
Lubricate the back-case:
Place the back-case back on its original position:
Now tighten all the small nuts that were screwed over the screws from the front-case. Just like you did in the beginning, but backwards
I did it with a strong, small tweezer. I putted both sides in the holes of the screw and turned it around.
You should now be at the same state like the second step, just like this:
Now place the final screws back in place:
Screw them tight:
The final result:
