As one of the younger forum members (a spirited 28!) who still believes he's 21 and has a healthy appetite for clubbing and house music I've noticed that PAMs seem to be the DJ watch of choice.

I've just seen Pete Tong on TV wearing a 111H and read an article in DJ magazine showing Tiesto wearing a 088 on a SS strap.

Any other members who share the same passion noticed their favourite DJs working the decks with a PAM weighing down the wrist?!

It's not just a DJ watch of choice, but a watch of choice for Style and Fashion. For a while, the world of fashion and style seems to be focusing on PAMs as the watch of choice. Not only the DJs caught these, but also the movie stars, politicians and fashion stylists...

"Collectors of these watches, known as Paneristi, range from the mildly detail-conscious to the obsessive, versed in every aspect of mechanics and meaning. No one watch is that different from the next in looks or performance. But because they are totems of masculinity and signifiers of taste and status, detail is everything..."

"The modern Panerai man may not spend much time underwater, but it pays to be prepared, and the watch has a good story to tell. "The luxury of Panerai grew out of its heritage and the purposefulness of each detail," explains designer Ralph Lauren, owner of a highly prized Radiomir model made for the Egyptian military. "These watches were not about the latest fashionâ€â€they were designed to work in specific conditions. Their form and beauty were secondary to their function; they're rugged, utilitarian, and handsome."

No probs!

Just wanted to share the fact...

... that purists and 'dark ones' aren't the only ones who love their watches. There are many who know peanuts about their pannies but love them for what they symbolize.

I've ever asked a friend who owns a gen pannie why he loves it...

"... dunno. Coz it's big and easily recognized..." and still complains that it's manual wind.

(But still won't let it go... when I tried to save him the misery)

:p
