I'm looking at a Steelfish SuperOcean, based on its reputation as an excellent replica. Other than the movement and the AR coating, is there a difference in the less expensive "asia" movement specimens and the "swiss" ones?
What I mean is, is the case, dial, etc.. all the same? I noticed that some sellers (Josh, anyway) use the same pic for both versions. Appearance-wise, are they the same?

Thanks
B.

Case, dial, hands, bracelet/strap are all the same. Only movement is different and no AR on "asian" version.

Big Bang for the buck! :)

I have tried to get a straight answer about whether or not the Asian version is as waterproof as the swiss version.

The swiss version is supposed to have a 5mm thick crystal.

I would hesitate putting any of the reps in water, at least at any substantial depth. Enjoy them above aqua.............

Isn't the other difference in that the lower priced version with Asian movement only comes with Synthetic crystal, where as the higher priced ETA comes with Sapphire Crystal (double AR)? I am okay with the Asian movement, but somehow the double AR on sapphire crystal makes the higher priced one hard to pass...

well i heard that the $100 silix version is the same watch. the only differences are the AR and the movement. the lume is also suppose to be hit or miss on the asian 21j.

Don't listen to Dave. He's always drunk and has no idea what he's saying/typing.

Here's mine:

Do the lume markers look all, whatever?

I've swam with mine many times, even taken it into the spa.

Dave's has survived being dunked in Canadian beer! What more do you need to know?

Dave I do have to agree with the allergydoc on this one. I have an Asian SFSO I puchased from TWP, and the lume markers look great and the lume on the watch is as good as any watch I own. You just don't like it because it is not available with a bling bezel! :D

I concur, the SOSF is the best quality rep I have ever owned. I had the white Swiss version. I am currently contemplating the asian white version, as I feel that the price is very good, and the lack of AR on the white dial would be bearable.

I asked TWP which I should get, the asian or the ETA, he said that a larger than usual percentage of the asian movement ones were quitting on the owner. If this is a watch you plan to keep for a long time, you MUST get the ETA imo. I ended up getting the asian movement because he took it back on return, used, and he got me a new movement that I had to have installed..... but got it petty darn cheap. :)

BTW, I love your username "gubment cheese" lol..

There is another version showing up with the Asian movement. It is apparently from a different factory, since it has a different case,(odd lug shape, no He valve), and a different bracelet..real crappy IMNSHO, with one piece end lugs, and a sub par clasp, and a different caseback with wrong engraving.

the profile of that watch looks weird! do you think it is maybe because they compressed the pics? otherwise i dont really see how that would even be comfortable!
